Range Prices!

I use the range at birchwood near swanley and with my range card it’s about £7 for 120 balls.
They spent over £5m on a gym and pool but nothing on the range- not even new balls

I find many ranges I've used up and down the land are expensive. While some like Lavender Park in Ascot I use have TopTracer so you feel as though you are getting the benefits of technology. Why are ranges so expensive when a lot of time we are getting rubbish mats and balls. I know plenty have decent (Srixon) balls and automatic tees and of course there is the cost of the lighting, staff etc to pay for but at the end of the day is it not a big shed, a few mats and balls?

Think the range I frequent is about £6/7 for 80 balls.
However I never use all of them as I find range ratting a horrible thing to have to do, god knows how you all manage to hit 100 balls in a range visit.

Listening to a guy the other day, he was moaning about the cost of the range at our place. He said if he is going to the range he will drive to Rosecotts course as it cheaper and quicker to drive to.

In Germany there aren't many public driving ranges. It is more common to use the range at your golf club and most clubs open the range for guests as well (sometimes for a small fee). At my home club, a small basket of balls (24 balls) is 1 €, a large one (48 balls) 2 €. I don't know if they charge guests for just using the range, but it is included in the green fee for our short course, which is 10 €. And of course guests who pay to play the full course can use the range for free as well.

At the other club where I play the prices for the baskets are the same, 1 € or 2 €s, but they contain fewer balls (18 for a small basket and 36 for a large one) and the range fee for guests is 5 € (again only if they don't play the full course, otherwise it is included in the green fee).

Had lunch down there recently with Mrs Wolf and my future FiL, we'd just been to pay our wedding money at Rowhill Grange and thought I'd pop in there and use facilities, was impressed with the new gym set up they have, the lobby for the club felt a bit hotel like for me and shop is now less than half the size, sadly didn't get to use the range. But may pop down for a game there in next couple of months

Range balls..

Woodhall Spa is £6 for 100 balls and probably one of the best looking ranges you'll find anywhere and is about 15mins away.

Boston West is £4.50 for 100 balls but then an extra £8-£10 extra an hour if you want to use top tracer dependant on usage for peak or peak times. Takes me 25mins to get to.

Lincoln golf Centre is £6 for 90 balls and is 30mins away.

All pretty decent prices really but when you factor in the club is on 7mins drive away from home, I can use the practice ground for as long as I want and then go do short game work as well as all the amenities to hand and costs me absolutely nothing in balls, fuel or travel time its a no brainer to not use it especially as the provides free use of practice balls for as long as you want, yes you have to pick them up but it's worth it, if your feeling lazy he just deducts £2 off your card and gets them for you.

What is the price of your local range?

Today I went and hit some balls before going to cut my dad's grass for him. I went to Mearns Castle which is a fabulous facility however I was charged £9 for 100 balls!!!! Now that is expensive.

What do you pay for 100 balls.
Mearns castle take the biscuit now, the balls are in such poor condition aswell. Far too expensive imo, I try my best to not go there anymore

Range is at the course

About £11 for 110 balls or £5.50 for 55

All outdoor and off grass so they move the 'bay' markers every day

Balls weren't that bad to be honest, yes they were solid but they were decent condition. Certainly better than the cue balls I was hitting at WofG last time I was there. Top Tracer wasn't even working for yesterday so it made it feel even more expensive! First time I have been at Mearns Castle in years. Only went there as I was getting a P2 putter grip fitted.

£5 for 100 at my nearest range. It’s a good enough facility but I would like some more targets other than 50, 100, 150, 200 etc. Why do they always stick to the normal?

Went to Trafford last night and the toptracer is £5 per hour off peak (daytime mon-fri) and £8 per hour peak (evenings weekends and bank holidays) 😱
