Raking Bunkers, Aaargh!!!

Our bunkers are rock solid at the moment, not even possible to leave a footprint in it I don't think.

Does Haste Hill even have rakes these days? Never used to - Fairly common for rakes to get nicked from public courses so the greenkeepers rake in the morning then leave for play.

There are rakes yeah. As I say you barely need to use them. Sand is so hard I can just smooth it over with my foot quickly and it looks absolutely fine.

They shouldn't need to be reminded. It's basic golf etiquette. And even if there are no rakes there is nothing to try and stop them trying to do the best they can with their shoe or club.
How’d you know if someone doesn’t tell you?

If you play golf, you will have been told, and know, that you have to rake the bunkers after you've been in them.
As a straw poll, I'd guess that if you asked everyone on here what the bunker rules are, you can bet they will know they should rake them after use.
This is not lack of knowledge. This is just plain selfishness. It's like repairing pitch marks and replacing divots. Clubs put up signs in and out of the clubhouse and people still don't fix them. I've even heard some people say that's what the green staff are for.

Terrible. It's just laziness and utter disrespect for others to leave a bunker like that. I'd hope they were not a member because if they were they obviously couldn't give a flying f what their course is like and what others might think of it. Shouldn't be allowed to play golf

It boils my ass when I see things like this, and divots not being replaced.

Since the word ass is allowed. ?

And maybe that’s an uncorrected belief. I’d imagine 100% of this forum would know as they are detailed enough to come onto a forum like this to find answers to things but juniors are prime examples. Some places don’t teach them etiquette and half the parents don’t play. Heck some academy courses don’t even have rakes. Now these are growing up around the game completely oblivious to any wrong until someone pulls them up about it.

its the same with rules. It’s amazing how many people don‘t even understand the basics.

There is no rakes at my place. There are dogs though that like to run through bunkers.

On a slight aside, played from a bunker that was frozen hard sand. How do you play a shot from that??

If the bunker is frozen just play PW it probably has the least bounce try pick it off the sand like a pitch shot.
Just get out as you will not really have any control.
The only defence for juniors , is on the TV you very rarely see caddies replace divots or rake bunkers .
They do it , just don’t show it on TV.
Our green staff ran a clinic for bunker raking out of 700 members 3 turned up 2 were juniors.
The juniors are only as good as the guy teaching them the game.
We have no problem with raking the bunkers at my club every bunker has a rake.
But the deer don’t know how to use them.
