Rain & Winter Gloves? MacWet?

My FJ Rain Grip glove finally gave up the ghost on Saturday after five year's service. I'm tempted to go for MacWets as a replacement, since I've heard a lot about them. Are they really the best? I've heard some people say they make your hands very cold, which is not something I really found with the FJ version. What is the sizing like? I tend to wear a small in normal gloves but used a medium in the FJ Rain glove.

My FJ Wintersof gloves are starting to look a bit shabby after five-ish years as well so I might replacement them at the same time. Any other good winter gloves out there or do I stick with them and go like for like?

Well I've never tried MacWet and plenty of people rave about them. That's like saying "you like beans on toast, so why not just eat that every day?" Variety is the spice of life.

I've got a pair of Mac Wets in medium.
Only tried them twice for a couple of holes each time. PM me with address and Ill send.

I found I was better with no glove, or very old used glove, in the rain.

I thought MacWet were good but have changed my mind a bit. Even if they maintain grip on the club a wet glove is still a wet glove and, when it’s cold too, your hands will freeze.
I’ve found it less miserable just doing whatever it takes to keep them as dry as possible and carrying spares.
I’ve followed @Lucifer MorningStar ’s advice of taking gloves off between shots when it’s raining and keeping a dry towel handy to dry my hands before I put them on. It works better for me than wearing specific “wet” gloves.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's tried MacWet and the FootJoy Rain Grip. Because I've never had a probably of my hands freezing with the FJ. So perhaps the material is different.

MacWets are better than FJ rain grip

They more expensive

But all waterproof gloves like that will make your hands cold because the gloves get wet

Good to hear it works for you. It’s what I’ve done for years and found it so much better than specific wet weather gloves and it’s easier to keep the hands warm.

I’ve found doing that and carrying rechargeable hand warmers and an insulated cup of coffee or tea for a pick me up on every tee has had a much more positive impact on my wet golf wellbeing than any “waterproof” or wet grip glove.

I've got mizuno rain gloves. Work brilliantly but your hands do get cold in them by the end of a round

I have had both. Macwets are better. Both made my hands cold. Only bought the FJs as the shop had no Macwets.

Same here, I have electric hand-warmers in the gilet pockets if it's cold. They work well with my Wintersofs (which I use when it's cold but not raining) so hopefully MacWets would work the same.

I have had macwets and FJ winter gloves. The grip in macwets was good when wet, but yes my hands got cold. I have the FJ winter gloves and would not go back to Mac wets.

These are two different things though. I have a pair of Wintersofs for when it's cold, but they're not for the rain.

It's fine, I'll sacrifice that to keep the feeling in my fingers. What kind of supernatural substance grips more when it's wet anyway? I'm sure they'll work fine either way.

What?? That's not possible is it, normal gloves get ruined within minutes in the rain.

Relax anyway, 30 seconds of holding a hand-warmer isn't going to completely dry out a MacWet glove, it'll just make it slightly warmer through the fingers that's all. And I'd be surprised if they're completely useless when they're dry anyway. Are they not made of suede, the same as the FJ one?

On this again - I have heard that before, but is it a myth or based on an older version of the gloves? Because they don't even make this claim on their own website. Here are some of things they do say:
