Question for the GM staff...

This thread is a good read so far, love to see some more Gm staff feedback though :)

On a side issue what do you all do with the gear and products you are given from tests etc? ( I imagine you get loads of good stuff and some bobbins items too) Obviously you use the equipment you feel more comfortable and get the best results with but the rest do you give to charities or just pass around within your organisation?

sorry if this comes across a bit nosey just curious of course and do apologise in advance for being rude :)

A lot of it goes back to the manufacturer to then be used as demo stock elsewhere :)

Kind of serious question but is that kind of treatment pretty standard in the golf industry for range launches?

No, as asked in the OP, this is a highlight, and was done like that to fit the JetSpeed theme. A typical launch normally compromises of about a dozen middle aged golf journos huddled around a driving range in November bashing balls with a new product!

If so does it not call into question the impartiality of any subsequent reviews? I mean fair play for blagging that as who would not want to do that, but after that kind of treatment there's only really one thing you will write surely.

Again this is a no. These are the 'reveal' events. All testing is done a month or so later when we're sent clubs in our specs and take them to our local driving ranges or clubs to put them through their paces.

It's a bit like the PP you have who always offers to get the beers in at the 19th. Yes you look forward to seeing him again, but it doesn't make you think he's a better golfer!
