So Mike H has been on what looks like a fabulous tour of Scotland. Paul regularly gets hands on the latest golfing kit. Jezz is frequently jetting off to stunning golf courses inside and outside the UK. Tappers has had the pleasure of playing Augusta. And many of you have had the chance to interview your golfing heroes...

But it can't all be that rosey surely so my questions are what's been the highlight of your time as a GM staffer and to balance it out what's the most challenging or irksome task you have to do on a monthly basis?

And for the forumers if you worked for GM what's the thing you would most like to get the opportunity to do?

I would just love the opportunity to write articles about something I am passionate for.
I really do especially enjoy reviewing things and offering my opinions with a witty twist.

I wouldn't say no though to a round at Augusta. :)

I'd close the forum down (except for the arrange a game section) from April to November so that people could go out and play/practice as much as possible... Some might get down to the fabled 18 then...

Joke (puts tin hat on) :D

It close it from November to April 'cos we go a wee bit mental when we're not golfing!

The best surely has to be going to visit/play stunning courses all around Britain and maybe further afield. You get paid for doing something you love and would like to do anyway, most people's ambition.

Low point will be meeting a golfer you admire and they turn out to be not a very nice person and give a rotten interview. Must happen on occasions and would be deflating.

Preview & write about the courses is what id love doing..

Hosting the forum days aswel, as most of ye lot are sound out any way so id feed off the buzz the forumers would bring

I've only had two short years in the GM family, but my current highlight is being flown to Turnberry in a private 16 seater jet by TaylorMade for the launch of their JetSpeed range. After testing the new products in TaylorMade's Turnberry Performance Centre we then went out and played the Ailsa... Tough day that one :D

The daily commute to London on South Eastern's appalling service aside, there's few irksome tasks really. Perhaps one challenge the web and social media has thrown up is having to 'cover off' any breaking news 24/7, rather than leaving it until the next day, which means we're always on the job in some form or another.

Easy, play golf on all sorts of golf courses, good, bad and indifferent as its the only way to get impartial thoughts.

Hosting a forum/reader golf day, it's been almost 3 years since the last GM hosted big meet, any chance of another one lads???

Isn't having to drag Mike out of the pub a bit irksome ?

So your low light is actually something that most on here do for free as part of their ongoing obsession with the world of golf! :o

Wow! I remember when I had a round with Jezz a few years ago he said "golf journalists were underpaid and over priviledged" based on your two years Jake sounds about right ;)

Where's Bonfield at? Would love to hear what he has to share but if his lowlight is dealing with me on a monthly basis I'm going off for a sulk ;)

I will back up the chaps from GM by saying it may look nice to us all, but its tough to live it. My bro is the equiv of MikeH in the motorbike industry. He is home probably 1/2 of each month, maybe 2/3's at a push. Hotels, Travel, press days look greatly exciting to people that havent lived it. Then have a wife, 2 young kids that you dont get to see much. OK, i think my bro's travel is maybe worse than the GM boys, but one mans dream is another mans daily grind..

It of course helps that I assume they are working in golf media that golf is a huge passion. It really has to be!

Looking for another forum opportunity ?

I've had the opportunity to go to GM Towers several times and had a chance to see the team in action. It does make you realise how many people are involved and how hard they work to bring the monthly magazine and digital format. I'd love the opportunity to work there, and would be happy to be largely office based as I don't think I'd be cut out for all that travelling. It's a fantastic office in a great location (and you have all those young ladies from some of the other titles, a restaurant overlooking the Thames and St Pauls and some great pubs nearby

The downside is the travelling into the office. I've commuted into London for years and it's all fine and dandy in the summer but a pain in the cold and wet of Winter.

It would be interesting to see what the rest of the GM staff think of the highs and lows though

Kind of serious question but is that kind of treatment pretty standard in the golf industry for range launches? If so does it not call into question the impartiality of any subsequent reviews? I mean fair play for blagging that as who would not want to do that, but after that kind of treatment there's only really one thing you will write surely.

The highs would be getting an early insight into new gear, whether it be Golf Clubs or Equipment.
