I'm not playing there (can't afford it anyway!) but me and a pal are doing the Titleist Thursday fitting there this Thursday. Since we have two adjacent appointments and he's giving me a lift down there, I'll have about 45 mins to kill while he does his fitting. Not having been there I was wondering:
  • is there a driving range I could use in that time?
  • I assume there's a putting green, but is it alright for a visitor just walk up and have a free putt on it?
  • also how strict is their dress code there? Even though we won't be on the course or even in the clubhouse either, would we still be best to avoid wearing jeans for example?

Much appreciated if anyone can answer these for me. Cheers.

If it were me, I would dress for golf.

However, I have no experience of the Grove, so not sure if you have to or not.

theres a grass range, short game area and a large putting green, would fully expect you to be able to use them all, as for dress code would just dress for golf, expect its not the strictest though

The Grove is a privately owned golf course that doesn't offer memberships. They are pretty relaxed about dress in the clubhouse as far as I remember, but I would assume (check on their website) that they don't allow jeans on the range or putting green.

Sounds good, cheers guys. Chris, I couldn't see much info about dress code on their website, hence why I thought I'd ask here. I'll stick some chinos on and tell me mate to do the same, best to be safe I guess.

You can't go wrong with a pair of chinos, acceptable at any club. You might even get your range balls stacked in a pyramid with your name next to them as well ;)

I dont know. Will I do?

I ran through there this evening. In the rain. Empty as per usual.

My advice? Take a sandwich, food is expensive.

Played there on Sunday.

Big grass range - you will need to buy a pyramid of balls for £10

Good short game & putting areas,

Dress pretty casual to say the least - either soft spikes or trainers and no football shirts!

All good news guys, cheers for the feedback. My appointment is 5:45pm and my mate's one is just after me at 6:30, so hopefully it's a pleasant evening, and not bloody miserable like it is today!
