So obviously someone spotted that i wasnt actually buying an R11 on the 1st of this month ;)

but it did get me thinking maybe it is time to upgrade my
driver as my current one is approaching 20 yrs old

so i went for it today and bought

11.5° driver (just incase i need height as 9° one i have is a low penetrating flight, bit hard to stop when pitching on the par 4's ;) )

and
14.5° 3 wood (as i currently havs 15.5°)

Yep great :) managed to find some nearly 20yr old small headed same model as i currently use, wont be swapping the old ones out just have the option if i want different flight characteristics (or if a shaft goes, a spare)

& the best thing was got them for £30 inc P&P i paid £6 just for a headcover for one a few weeks back

so now have 9° 11.5° 14.5° 15.5° 20°

the big headed beast's have be staved off for a good while longer ......PHEW! :D

Great Stuff. Good enough to shoot low scores with 20 years ago. Good enough to do the same with now.

Although I have just acquired a 460 cc driver I much prefer the look of the smaller heads especially my old Hawkeye VFT. I would have been very happy had they set the max headsize at something like 330cc. Drivers would still look like golf clubs if they had, instead if like small buildings on the end of a stick.

yep MN totally agree the Killerwhales (at275cc) looked huge compared to whales which were big compared to normals at the time (as u can gague in the bottom pic)

mine next to a 460cc

I had one of those Wilson Whale ones when they first came out - a wooden head with a bright red shaft, it looked MASSIVE. I can remember thinking it was almost like cheating....how times have changed
