And this is where integrating the team event doesn’t quite work for me. Does Niemann who is unquestionably playing very well chase some birdies to try and claw back in the team event, or does he play conservative to protect his lead in the singles event.

I disagree completely.
Take Burmesters putt for eagle (ok he bottled it), hoe often does an eagle from someone in 18th have such a potential impact on the overall result.

Not great.
Changing the team element to all 4 scores counting on the last day was a genius move.
It means ANYTHING can happen on the last day as demonstrated today.
Crushers as mentioned earlier have CRUSHED it today
