Wonder if anyone can help me.

I have a Powercaddy Legend Classic and have only had it for a couple of seasons but only manage a two or three games a month.

Recently I have noticed that the power switch is having to be turned further and further to the maximum to get the same amount of power. So I am wondering - does the motor need to be checked on a regular basis or how long do you think it SHOULD last before it need an overhaul.

The battery is always put on charge when I finish a game and is fully charged when I set off for a game

Any advice woulde be gratefully received because Im at the stage now where Im beginning to doubt if I will get a full round with it.

what did you do with the battery over the winter? if it was left in the garage, it will have taken a hammering if it wasn't kept on a trickle charge. some will seem to have survived with no (evident) problems, others won't.

do you charge the battery as soon as you come back or just before you go out again?

The battery is constantly on 'trickle charge' since I bought it, but there I think perhaps is the problem.

A few months ago I was advised (wrongly as it turns out) to drain the battery fully and re-charge it prior to the start of the summer season. I did this and it involved running the caddycar motor for several hours until it had fully emptied of charge. So I think that has caused the problem and a full service of the motor will hopfully sort the problem.

Thanks for your help and advice

I've lost count of the number of times I've advised against doing this only to be told I'm wrong by people who either don't have an electric trolley or think that they know better than the manufacturers/battery suppliers who advise against this practice. It's a special application deep recycle battery, not a NiCad that benefits from occasional complete discharge.

I don't think that a service on the motor will help. You have probably ruined the battery I'm afraid.
