Poulter - Play him again before Sunday?

I'll be watching tomorrow.
And the match I will be interested in more than any others is Poults.
The guy is a breath of fresh air. He would be my first pick in any team.
Personally I think the guy is worth a 2 hole headstart in any head to head.
Go deliver a banger right up the Yanks jacksies Poults!!
:clap::clap::clap:

I do agree with that somewhat but Poulter never seems to have learnt the usual bland, cliche after match comments many golfers have...

I'll give you that one ;)

But just seen Sergio, the world number 3, saying that Rory at times was playing 3 people out there. See Poulter, it's not that difficult, better players than you can do it and show a bit of humility.....

He'll be put about 4th from the bottom to ensure he can inflict the least damage on Europe's chances.;)

why are you determined to put down one member of a team leading 10-6, and one who coming into this ryder cup had pretty much the best RC record ever?

he may not be everyones come of tea but his rc record deserves him better than hes getting from some

Good to see Clarke giving Poults the credit he deserved for today

Crucial half from him and McIlroy which stopped a 3-1 and Europe took advantage of that

Hasn't been his best RC but he has played his part

Boring now

10 - 6 to Europe and still slating one player

Poults is a ryder cup hero and brings a lot more than just his points taly to the team.
Saying that however he can be up his own backside at times at that will always attract the hater.

I can tolerate his style when he adds something to the team but at presentI see him being the weak link in the team as he's adding nothing the others dont already have.

Hopefully we can carry him tomorrow if needs be but unless he produces something special (which he may well do) then I feel that it will be a brave captain that picks him as a wildcard in future ryder cups when he's coming in off form.

Thankfully all the the pundits recognise the role he played today - he didnt add nothing today - played his part in gaining that half point

Just seen he is playing against Webb Simpson. Two out of form players. You can't do it every time and it just didn't happen for him. I am pleased he had those last three holes today though. The way he has played in the past he didn't deserve to get blasted.

Poulter delivered when it mattered last time and no-one was ever going to reach that level again. As long as we (Europe) win then the 1/2 point will be as vital as any other put on the board by the others

I'm not disputing that he has performed very well in previous Ryder Cups. The OP's question was should he deserve to play before Sunday. And I have tried to put forwards an argument to say no, he should not have. There were much better options. The fact that Europe is winning 10-6 should not really influence the answer to the OPs question, and in my opinion has kind of papered over the cracks a bit when it comes to his contribution. I wonder if people would be so keen to defend him if Europe was down.

IMHO he is well past his best and not really a team player. Which you can kind of get away with if you deliver 4 or 5 points, but not if you are struggling to hit a fairway. And you should pick your team based on current form, not what happened in previous Ryder Cups. Interview after interview, players were keen to highlight the input of others. Apart from you know who

I do feel a bit sorry for him as he was Mr Ryder Cup, and it was clear to me that he knew he was no longer anywhere near the top dog. He tried to brave it out, but you could see the realisation in his eyes in the post match interview.

But hey. worse things happen at sea.;)

How can you say he isnt a team player when the rest of his team in previous years have stated what a team player he is - he goes out there to win a point for the team - not him but the team - having spoken to him a number of times your suggestion of him not being a team player couldnt be further from the truth

His contribution today has been highlighted by various pundits and ex golfers as a telling contribution - that half point him and McIlroy gained was crucial and his chip and then birdie swung the match.

I remember watching Seve in 95 - couldnt hit a barn door but helped his team to a vital point - he was there - same with Faldo in 97.

Regardless of form before the tournament or what he did on friday or what fairway he couldnt hit - he played his part - a part recognised by his captain who picked him.

Well he's managed to draw the usa teams worst player in the singles so the story may not be over yet.

Glad he played today and showed a glimpse towards the end of what he's capable of. Hopefully he takes that into the singles tomorrow. He really has won a watch with that draw!

Feel sorry for Gallagher. I think it was a mistake not to play him this morning and he's got a rough draw against mickelson.

I remember Philip Price stuffing Michelson in the singles when everyone thought it
was a guaranteed point for the USA.
I believe Gallagher can do it,and I believe Europe will win comfortably.
