Is it possible to get fitted on older versions of clubs?

I fancy a new driver and would like to get properly fitted for one but don't wanna pay £250-£350 for a Driver.

Quite like the idea of getting a Titleist 913 or SLDR as prices for them seem quite good but would want to get fitted- do any retailers do this? Only big retailer I know close to me is AG but know they do price match- would it be cheeky of me to ask for a fitting for older club then price match

No idea how many offer this service. I imagine the manufacturers would prefer you didn't and I suppose a lot depends on if the fitters have all the gear needed.

Also not sure if the retailers will see it as being worth their time if they spend time on fitting you only for you to then buy a discounted club with I expect very little, if any profit margin on it. You may get away with it if you buy all your stuff from a pro and they do it for you, but walking into somewhere like AG? I doubt it.

good question and very doubtful as they wont have the old stock. Places like AG though could get numbers to help you choose a second hand 913 for example but it wont be a true proper fitting.

However, a proper fitter, maybe an independant could and would probably have all the shafts and various head combos.

You could get fitted for a 915. Find out what loft suits, what setting and also a shaft.

Then purchase the correct head and shaft from eBay.

That was what i thought, someone asked TM Performance labs yesterday via twitter about SLDR fittings, and the answer was no. R15 or Aeroburner only.

Go find an independent club fitter, and they may be able to help!

When you say fitting, do you mean a shaft upgrade or would going into american golf and hitting the regular, stiff and xstiff count! LOL

I would suggest that if AG or DG or somewhere similar had stock of the driver then they'd be only too happy to do a fitting on it. You'd have to be happy for them to do it, possibly a bit hit and miss with the fitters.
I was in AG this morning and they have plenty of last years drivers in stock - especially SLDRs... They want shot of them so I'd be amazed if they wouldn't.

And if you fancy trying to beat them up on price, they were selling them for 129 on Boxing day, so that price can be done!!
