Thus far a very poor season. Ended last year with three cards 85, 83 and a 82 to get my first HC 17.1, this season I've not had the time to play as much as I would have liked, practiced as much as last year and with starting to play on a Saturday in the club comps, I stopped my lessons.

The overall result is carnage, I'm now off 19.1 and my game is all over the place.

The only solace I can find is that after the NGT session, I did become more chilled on the golf course. NGT didn;t so much help me improve my game but has helped me tune out the whinging and whining coming from playing partners.

Started off like a train 15 down to 13 in no time then hit a brick wall, a few buffers a few 0.1 then a small cut but no real progress since may.

I've had to go with 4 as I am playing well at the moment and my magic number has been 38 points in most comps this season which can't be bad. One win in a monthly stableford on the PGA and the best thing is I'm leaving a bunch of shots out there so I know it can get a whole lot better.

I went for a 4, which doesn't really reflect the quality of my golf but as I got to single figures in the last qualifier of last year my main objective for this year was to try and stay there.

I've had quite a few 0.1s but I'm currently right where I started the year so I'd have to say I've achieved my target.
Also played well in matches and have the final of the mixed 4BBB a week on Saturday.

Not been a great golfing year so far for me and the handicap has increased a little from 2013.

In the last few weeks there has been signs of some better form so hopefully I can push on and finish the year well.

It's been a mixed bag so far, so I've rated myself a 3.

Started off really badly, gaining almost a shot on my handicap in the wrong direction.

Was chosen by GM to be fitted by PING, and the bats took some getting used to; a couple more increases and a crisis-of-confidence before a near 2-shot cut and a hit-the-bar moment in a medal that I probably should have won.

Now relatively happy with my game, driving the ball pretty well but putting is woeful. I can't get through the ball with the flatstick and I'm constantly leaving putts short and pressuring the two-putt as a result.

But I'm holding my own, and I can see definite improvement in my game from last season, even if the scores don't bare them out.

I went for 1 because my season has been disastrously bad from a purely results driven point of view. A very busy year at work has led to zero practice time which in turn has led to a looong series of either scraping into buffer or getting 0.1 back. I've gone up 0.8 since my last cut which was in 2013 :o. It turns out that rocking up for a medal having not hit a ball for 2 or 3 weeks doesn't generally work, who would have guessed?

It's not all bad, on the plus side I did get to play some lovely courses through the KoK comps and I've moved to a new club which I love. And of course GM did give me a set of Benross clubs, most of which I still think are great. None of that helps when I'm hooking those drives though!

I've gone for a 3.

I've been piling the 0.1's on but with moving to a new club I knew it wouldn't be that straight forward whilst I learn the course and get to know where not to go! Just started to hit buffer and under handicap in the last few weeks so I'm getting there. If I was at my old club now I'd be running out of competition season, however, at my new heathland club its qualifying comps all year round so hopefully I will now start to see some benefit from my move!

I've also won my 1st ever major (board) comp at the new club last month

I've said a 2

After my best season of results and particularly ball striking last year I had some lessons where the pro changed my swing despite my reservations at what he was asking me to do and I completely lost my game and confidence. Every comp since has seen a .1 increase and I've gone from 9.9 to 11.7

I'm now almost back to a good swing but just seem unable to put a score together that matches my play. Yesterday in a comp I had at least 5 putts that lipped, but all the lips were out and not one in! And that's typical of my current form!

4 for me

Standard of play has generally been good
Improved my driving significantly
Reduced Handicap from 12.0 to 10.5
Broke 80 (just) off the whites in a comp for the first time in ages
Won a club trophy
Great time at Kings of Distance
Played Hankley Common for the first time in years and birdied the 7th after hitting tee shot to 4 ft
Not had to play a round in the full rain suit

4 for me - mainly as I've enjoyed my golf and meeting lots of new folk. Consistency has been improving, as has course management and patience. This has helped the handicap move steadily but slowly down which was my hope for the season. I'm still in our main singles knockout comp too (until Sunday anyway!) which has been fun.

A definite 1 :( I'd go lower but that's not an option.

As some on here can testify, I say "woohoo!" whenever I manage 30 stableford points.:o

Most of my problems stem from not playing regularly and having no confidence in my irons.

Edit: I won't mention my putting!!!!

not playing regularly???? you have been to every forum meet from one end of the country to the other;)

I was always told whenever setting a rate yourself type question you should never provide an odd number, it'll only guarantee that the middle one will always be the most popular

I gave myself a three

5 for me.

Handicap has gone up a full shot since this time last year but I know that's going to take care of itself at some stage. Eh birchy :D
started the season in march with some of the worst golf I have ever played (silloth and southerness weeekend)but worked hard at getting it back and now it's going ok.

Best things been selected for a free set of mizuno irons courtesy of GM and Mizuno . The irons are really working well at the minute.

Also highlights so far have been the organised scottish trip playing some fantastic courses and the company wasn't bad either, met lots of forumites playing the King of kings and played some lovely courses along the route. Spent a fortune in the process this year but it's been worth it.

4 for me

started the year at 14.0, got it down to 10.6 at one point, but frustratingly has gone gradually back up to 11.7

got knocked out in the semi-final of the HCP club championship, but have won two medals during my hot streak in April/may

A 3. I've come down from 21 to 18, but I was hoping to get down to 17. I got .1 back at the weekend so I'm now one bad round away from 19. Conversely I'm 1 good round away from my target.

First summer season as a full member...

Reduced HC from 23 to 18, with a couple of .1 increases along the way...

Won a board comp, came third in a couple of others.

Won a regional final (same comp as above) which concluded in a great day out at Royal Birkdale..

So all in all I would say a '4' for me..
