Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. This month, we want to know what rating you'd give your season so far (out of 5). Have you achieved anything memorable this year? Won any major competitions? Seen a dramatic handicap decrease? Or, have you gone backwards?

Let us know by commenting below!

Many thanks

Nick

I'm going to go with a 3.

Managed to get down to 5 dead from 6.4 and have won a couple of medals in the process, but no silver trophy:(

downside is i was knocked out of all the club matchplay comps, and i usually do well in those.

Game of 2 halves. Started with a lot of promise after the New Golf Thinking day, saw some real improvements, started shooting in the mid 80s and beat my usual playing partners on gross scores for the 1st time ever. Which was pretty memorable. Also played some cracking courses (Blue Monster, The Rosemount, The Grove) for the first time this year. And my total outlay combined for those 3 courses was £30 :D

But my bad shot has always been a nasty smothered hook through a very closed club face at most points in my swing. Which comes and goes. And that became more prevalent in the last month or so, so much that it was ruining every round, and no amount of golf thinking could change that. No idea why it suddenly comes to haunt me, but when it does it's soul destroying as I just get worse and worse the more I try and counter it.

So went for a lesson yesterday, have got a couple of things to think about and it's now a case of ingraining the more neutral club face in my swing.

Marginally less than halfway. My short game, that was always my strength, has gone backwards. However, my long game, that's always been a bit weak has been great. I'm sort of happy with my game but not the scores.

4 for me. Won 2 comps at the club and managed to stay pretty much fully fit all summer. Also played a few new decent tracks :) Missing the cut in club champs last week wasnt part of the plan tho :(

i'm going to give myself a 4. Have reduced my handicap by a 1 shot to 4.2, finished top 10 in the club champs and finished 2nd in 2 other competitions, all of this at a club i only joined in April.

Also, pleased to be the Golf Monthly/Callaway Golf King of Distance at the exibition day! what more can i ask for?

Enjoying the season plenty and have gone for a 4. Made some technical improvements over the winter (around a better path into the ball with the aim of minimising my main miss; the pulled shot) and won a couple of monthly medals and a trophy. Played a bit pants in the two main cups though so there's plenty to work on still including infernal bunker play. Hcp reduced a bit to 1.7 which has been nice but don't want to be giving much more away...

Definitely a 3. Started off quite well, then just seem to have slipped away. Recently started a series of lessons which seem to be working, however only looking for the improvement to fully manifest itself next season.

Gone for 3, I'm happy with just about every part of my game, my short game's come on leaps and bounds this season, but I seem to be throwing in a couple of stupid swings in a round that are wrecking potentially good scores!

Pretty average. Most of the season was buffer zones or plus .1 and the frustrating thing is that I have hit a rich vein of form now just as the competitions are becoming thin on the ground.

4 for me. I won a foursomes comp with a mate, won a monthly medal and done well in a couple of stablefords, but the best bit was knocking 3 shots off my handicap.

1.

Same injury which resulted in me missing most of last season has returned and resulted in me missing most of this season. Just received a new treatment which has a 70% chance of working.. If it doesn't, then I'll carry on playing socially until the GC membership ends, then I'll be forced to do something else...

If there had been an option for ZERO, then I'd have picked that.... :(

5 for me.

I've made major improvements to all aspects of my game following a series of lessons over the winter and lots of hardwork. The results can be seen in my handicap which has dropped from a starting point of 19.4 to 12.5 as of today. My best round this season is an 81 - a score that was way beyond my wildest dreams this time last year.

I've won two board competitions in the process, which although not my priority is a nice added bonus!

3 for me. Very weird season, I dont feel in control of the golf ball and don't know where my next shot is going but I'm managing to scramble scores, so as things stand I feel I am playing bad golf, but i'm .3 lower than the start of the season and I've only got 3 qualifiers left to play this year so I'm guaranteed to at worst, finish where I started. So despite feeling I'm playing poorly Ive won a club comp and 2 open days, I'm in the final of one matchplay with a semi final in another tonight and my handicap should hopefully be lower than I started with, which was my main goal of staying cat 1 for the season.

Weird game, but I love it:D

Has to be a 5 for me, I've gone from 8 down to 6 despite fighting a massive hook for the first half of the year. I had a season goal to steady the ship at 7.

I spent the end of last season going from 8-7 and back again, had a horrible start to this year with the hook, so to be scoring well now has put the smile back on my face.

That is the exact opposite of my season (apart from having 3 qualifiers left as ours never stop - I haven't decided to whether to enter any or not yet though!)

I said 2.
It's been underwhelming to say the least.
I moved clubs and have really enjoyed the course and playing more often in the evening etc. But a month out with a bad back set me back to start with and form has been poor.
Especially when it comes to comp's I've been poor, except for coming 3rd in the club championships. The handicap has gone from 4.6 to 5.1 (until next weekend's 0.1).

I've just not managed to get a full decent round in, it's always two step forward one step back.
