I hate modern motorcars.

I dislike the "unibody" construction. I prefer the old sturdy, full-frame construction.
I dislike the small size of the sedans (saloons?). Everybody buys SUVs now because we fat ass Americans don't fit in those damned things.
I loathe the tall head restraints. They don't let me wear my felt fedoras (which were quite expensive, I might add) when I'm dressed up.
I hate the absence of 7-liter and 8-liter engine options which were once available on even smaller American cars.
I even miss the front vent windows, even though dashboard ventilation makes them unnecessary.
And now, I miss the CD players because I have to make thumb drives for USB ports out of my CDs.

And yet for all of that, I LOVE the new electronic gadgets, Especially the backup cameras and the blind spot warnings in the side mirrors.
I like the satellite radio options. (With no CDs, I can at least listen to the Sinatra channel on Sirius.) I like the modern overdrive gears that enable high rear axle ratios for good acceleration. I like all kinds of stuff. But I wish that I could wear my hats and have a few more liters under the hood (bonnet?).

I find the auto wipers useful. But i found a new one in the beemer... A auto-handbrake.
!) It applies the handbrake automatically when you park. That is great.
2) It releases the handbrake automatically when you want to drive off!!!! I thought the idea was to not move off automatically..
I really like the auto handbrake. So simple to apply and disengage. I use it far more often than i did a standard handbrake in previous cars. Don't forget it only disengages when you press the accelerator, you are in charge.

Tell you what, if you struggle with automatic wipers when autonomous cars are standard you will lose your ..... ;)

Ha ha, they don't wind me up thankfully. I just dont find them an improvement, in fact they are a step back, therefore pointless.

Washing machines.
The cycle time says 2hr 43 mins when I start it.
Its one of these fancy ones that analyses the water and adjusts the time accordingly
No matter how dirty the load is it always, after 10 minutes, knocks the time down to 1 hrs 25mins.
Why doesn't it just do that anyway?
How manky must clothes have to be before it runs the full cycle?

I hit my indicator stalk accidentally and it flashes about 5 times not pointless but bloody dangerous .

Pointless (as others have said) automatic windscreen wipers

Pointless and dangerous headlights coming on when I unlock the car at night. I once drove several a couple of miles down a dual carriage way after leaving a service area because I thought my lights were on but had switched off .

Ah yes...the European "Lane change" indicator...bane of my life.
Cancel the indicator(when it hasn't done it itself) and I get 3 flashes - what a waste of time. 3 flashes is barely any good for anything
And if the kids cancel the indicator a bit to fiercely, they try and stop it by flicking it the other way...which causes 3 more flashes...repeat until they get the idea but the poor sod in the car behind hasn't got a clue what's going on....

Just put the hazards on and cut out the faffing about.

Indicators mean zip in North London anyway, as do lanes.

Tyre pressure sensors that do not give a value.

Oil level monitors that replace a dipstick. What was wrong with having a dipstick?

Here's a slightly controversial one..
Fog Lights
My view is that if, in fog, you can't see the ordinary rear lights of the car in front then you shouldn't be on the road.
Just my opinion...
Sometimes you have to be on the road for an essential journey, but more often it's because you don't know that there is going to be fog.

My daughters new dashcam has Alexa built in, you can control the camera, change the radio channel and set sat nav all by voice apparently.

The timer on our washing machine would be ideal for timing a search for your golf ball - when it says 3 minutes you know you have at least 10 before you can open the door!
