Playing in the rain?

Why bother playing in bad wind and rain just have a day off golf easy you cant tell me its enjoy-full stay at home and watch sky sports much more fun

If you are booked into a competition you cannot just not turn up if it is raining. Anyway, golf in the rain is better than decorating in the dry :)

Ring in say you have got man-flu job done:) This is the only problem with comps is that when the weather takes a turn for the worse your obliged to play. If you don't fancy playing in all conditions best to not put your name down really. I used to play in all weathers but I must admit past couple of years my enthusiasm for playing in howling winds and driving rain has got to an all time low, just don't enjoy it anymore so unless forecast is reasonable I don't bother putting my name down.

We were cancelled today. Combination of wet and wind!

I'm hoping that's what happens to ours even though about half the field (apart from loads of no shows) started.

On a positive note my lovely GG's kept me very dry (not warm as they are quite thin) but they are very easy to wear, ideal for the warm rain days I think

Invest in good waterproofs and a wet weather glove.
Club up, be aggresive with your putts and play a strong 3/4 swing on your irons
The rest of the field will be crying coz it's raining.
You will be focussedon your golf to notice the weather.

I teed off at 9 this morning into a 20mph wind, lashing rain and 6 degree temperature.
After my waterproof hat blew off on my downswing on the first tee causing me to nearly miss the ball, I thought things could only get better.
They didn't.
Got to the third green to find the pro, greenkeeper and club captain debating whether to cancel the comp.
The decision was not to, and I swear they were smirking when they told us this!
Wish I'd stayed in my pit!
The utility room now looks like a bomb has hit it trying to dry my gear and the wife's not happy about it. Happy days!!

Imagine what would have happened if she had found out about the super glue incident as well!!!

Forget the umbrealla, get a good set of water proofs, a water proof hat and some macwets.

I agree with this. If it is going to be continuous rain then I would get the wet gloves on, don't try to fight it and just let your grips get wet. Grip will be fine with macwets and just wrap up well in your waterproofs. If you prepare well you'll have an advantage over the rest of the field.

If you don't have any wet gloves, marigolds are a great alternative ;)

Totally agree.
