So as a member of a golf course, how often do you play in competitions?

I'm asking this as i'm looking to join a club but I know I won't necessarily get to play each week plus I also like participating in social golf rounds with friends who aren't members at courses.

Every Saturday in a comp. Mid week for a knock on an evening, and the odd away day.

But membership is more than just full rounds. It's access to the practice ground and putting green. Advice from the pro. The odd beer, and the social functions.

I try and play all weekend competitions I find I focus more under competition conditions even though I play with the same group of playing partners.

We have 2 weekend qualifying comps a month on average.

This is a very true point! There's not many decent practice putting greens about at all in South Birmingham!

Me and my playing partners (oddly enough) play a lot of golf at the course I'm looking to become a member at. They don't just play often enough to justify getting a membership.

Every weekend competition I can. I work full time and can't get to the club in time to play midweek ones without taking annual leave. They aren't mandatory so if I didn't fancy it (or was hosting guests) then you can opt out

How do these non qualifier and qualifying competitions work? Are some worth more than others?

Play qualifiers mostly every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday plus we are trialling 9-hole qualifiers on Wednesday evenings. There's a hint of desperation here as Old Father Time is right up my rear end.

Stopped membership this year, but it was once a month if lucky. Too many other commitments to play more regularly in comps, although would still do social rounds on non comp weekends or midweek evenings.

Play twice a week usually.

Usually a roll up on Wednesday, can enter the midweek comp too, which I will start doing again now spring is here.

Most weekends have a qualifying comp, although I do play league matches for the club, which is 4BBB.

At least once at the weekend, and at least once during the week.

The real bonus of membership is the ability to sneak on for a few when I have a free couple of hours.

I play 3 or 4 times a week and average at least 1 qualifier a week but play at clubs where there are qualifying competitions coming out of your ears - worth checking before you join anywhere as my ideal local club runs so few it would not work for me and looked elsewhere.

Every Thursday plus a few on Sundays plus various singles comps elsewhere during the season. On top of that a lot of team opens. PLus a few matchplay comps.

if there is a comp on on a Sat i will play in it, also the odd Sunday stableford and away open. already played 4 and or comps only started the 9th April. gone up in every one though:rofl:

Saturday competitions and Sunday stablefords, I'll play as many as I can. Will usually go up at least one evening during the week for a 9 hole knock. If I have a week off work I'll usually play the Wednesday sweep.

Every other weekend, on average, plus a few after work 9-hole comps (about once a month). I would love to play in comps more often, but that's pretty much all that is available on the weekends.

Pretty much every Wednesday for the mid-week comp, Saturdays when we're at home, Singles, Pairs and team matches (when selected). Sometimes fit in a practice or social game too.
