Had a great session with my pro last night and he advised that whilst my irons are ok, the fact they are regular shafts are not helping my trajectory control and that I should maybe look at new irons with a stiffer shaft and more of a blade look about them.

I've had a little search round the web but I really don't have the cash to splash 500/600 quid on new irons.

Any advice/suggestions on irons that I could use as a stop gap until I saved enough pennies?

Get a fitting session, and find out what shaft suits. You can go to the Mizuno Fitting Centre at Cumbernauld free of charge. Then identify a model of iron, probably second hand at a decent price, maybe Mizuno MP60 or something like that, and look around ebay for something suitable. I think Golfbidder is rather expensive.

Ping s59 with Dynamic Gold stiff shafts - fantastic low flight and long too. Should pick up a set for between £120 to £180 for a mint set. Recommended.

If your looking for a brand new set you can pick up a set of cleveland cg red tours for around 200/250.

not alot of people rate them but I love them!

Take a trip to Carnoustie golf shop on the high street mate, trades ins or new and also Linsdey Urquart at Arbroath GC. Dealt with both and they trade clubs in and are decent dealers.

Hi Happy as the CannyFifer aka Lewis Hamilton said try The Carnoustie Golf Shop the guy in there Barry is superb ,they can fit you for anything ,they have the Mizuno optimizer and the Ping 'n' Flight software in conjunction with there launch monitor also they take trade ins.

I would also suggest the Carnoustie Golf Shop. If you fancy the Mizuno fitting Center, it is now at the end of Great Western Road, Clydebank and not at Cumbernauld as mentioned earlier

I agree with Ethan, get on Ebay and look at a set of Mizuno MP60's. If you find someone with 100% feedback and a good few items sold then you should be O.K. I love my 60's when I'm swinging well, hate the bloody things when I'm not though. ;)

MP 57, MP 60 or why not try MP32/67 the blades from a few years ago. i got a nice set of MP 32 in excellent condition from one of the A.Thompson shops in Inverness for £100 sec-hand.
