Played Ailsa Course at Turnberry yesterday

Just to whet the appetite of all those going to play The Ailsa course next year.

I played yesterday and managed to get a few photos. The whole place is just amazing from the sumptuous locker rooms to the redesigned course. The new holes along the beach are now much closer bringing better views. It was a lovely winter's day, an unusual north westerly breeze made it interesting on the way out. It may have been sunny but it was certainly cold. I was along as a guest of a member, you need to use mats now from the fairway and the first cut of the rough. The course is just tremendous and it is easy to see why everyone waxes lyrical about it. The greens had been slit / tined in places and quite a lot of sand on them but they still ran true and surprisingly fast. They were even ironing them yesterday.

To all those playing next year you will love it ! Just can't wait for my next invite

Forgot to say how I played.

Net 74, was delighted with that as it included 4 lost balls and the conditions on the day.

6 fairways and 7 greens in regulation. 34 puttts.

Published rates are also horrific. £350 for a round in the summer. That would get you on the Old Course and Carnoustie
