PGA Tour spitting

Not the most pleasant thing to watch, but not worth complaining about.

I often take a swig of water to clear the mouth out and spit it back out when i'm playing. If you're somewhere dusty, the filth gets everywhere. If spitting it helps you clear it out, then what's the problem.

Footballers clear the crap from their chests to help them breathe properly, that's never bothered me either.

Oh yes it is.....I spit now and then, we all do for reasons you mentioned above. This is way more than that, it's non stop, in your face, full HD gobbing, long dribblers coming out his mouth.

It's disgusting. If your okay with it then fine, but to say it's not worth complaning about...well.

It's mingin', but I'm more concerned with the time it takes for these guys to get round. It isn't helped by Bradders stepping into and then back out of the shot about 14 times before he hits the damned thing. And what's that look he's giving the ball when he lines up a putt..? It reminds me of when the wife catches me looking at another bird's chest.

I ended up switching the golf off at about 9 because I kept shouting at the TV... "c'mon man, just hit the effing thing"

i've mentioned dj's spitting before and jason dufner's but this is the first time i have ever seen keegan bradley do it and it's beyond a joke.it doesn't usually bother me with the spitting so long as it's not on the green but for some reason keegers takes it too far and makes it look bad.

he spits enough for the whole field and if it's part of his already ridiculous pre-shot routine then he needs a good smack round the head.

dj doesn't do it nearly as often as keegan and he only seems to do it when he has completed his shot and waiting but keegan spits more than once whilst doing his silly routine and he nearly spits on himself as he does his silly "hokey cokey" dance routine.

I hate it. Never understood why they do it. Seem to recall it starting with footballers and tennis players (Connors, McEnroe) but at least those guys are running about a lot. But golfers!

Did Hogan, Palmer, Nicklaus or Watson do it?

These guys nowdays seem to have built it into their pre-shot routines.

I've not seen the incident in question, admittedly, but if it's similar to the coverage of footballers coughing up or firing snot rockets out the nostrils, then i'm immune to it.

When you've seen three Pakistani boys who haven't washed in about 4 days, all giving it the big 'hokk' and planting brickies' omlettes on the pavement, you switch off to it. After your stomach has done a few somersaults.

Sorry if my initial post wasn't clear.

Completely agree... In football there is reason for this.

Golf... why do it?

I honestly was willing him to miss that last putt all because he kept spitting at me!

A Grand fine every time they spit, and it gets seen on camera,
Golf is not just a game or a sport, and when you see keegan bradley spitting 5 times a shot, spitting over himself nearly, its just not a part of the golf culture,
It makse the game look alittle less awesome that it is

I am so happy keegan bradley lost, i was shouting at the TV for him to lose the play off,
I hope some one shows him and tells him what he was doing

I actually dont think Keegan Bradley is aware he is doing it, its almost like a form of tourettes or a nervous tick that he has. Doesnt make it any more pleasant to watch mind you.

As for that pre shot routine and lining up his putts by giving the ball the mung eye, what the hell is all that about?

To sum up, not a nice player to watch makes for very uncomfartable viewing. Hope he either gets it sorted out or falls back to become a fringe player so we dont have to endure too much of him on our screens.

Well....... Where to start with Mr Bradley.

Ok the spitting i'm sorry but I fail to see how this is socially acceptable, once or twice a round discreetly off to the side to remove dust or crap from your throat then ok nothing wrong with that and is something we all have to do but there are places this can be done out of view even on the tour stops.

He had it ingrained as part of his routine and sometimes upto 5 times and each time it was like a stream of gob everytime, how he wasn't dehydrateed post round I have no idea.

Then his incessant back and forth, back and forth oh and back and forth again before settling to hit the shot! I turned off for 2hours thinking I'll switch back in time to see the final hole as the coverage was due to finish at 11pm. Turned back on at 1045 to see they still hadn't finished the par3 16th(think it was 16th) due to the time it was taking to play thanks to Keegs!

Interesting comment by Rob Lee on Sky last night in that since Finchem has run the PGA Tour no-one player has ever been penalised or given a gentle nudge about slow play. How can that be when they are clearly slowing the field up. Wouldn't happen on John Paramours watch

How can Bradley justify spitting on the putting green. Apart from anything else if he does it every time and I'm assuming so as it seems part of his pre-shot routine, surely in early rounds it will inevitably be on someones line. He must be aware the camera is on him at all times. I ended up wanting to punch the bloody screen every time he hocked another one down the lens

With the possible exception of the Ryder Cup, I don't think I've ever watched golf before and willed a player to miss a putt, duff an approach shot into a bunker or cheered when they made a mistake. Last night I reached that point with Keegan Bradley. Until he cleans up his act I'll be wishing him lots of luck... all of it bad!

To be honest its all petty with this spitting, yeah it would be great if everyone stopped it, but its a habit. Personally kicking smoking off the course would come way ahead of people spitting. People leaving there tees around the ground and dropping litter would be up there before it as well. Hes not doing anything illegal and theres plenty worse he could be doing such as swearing or chucking clubs into the ground.

I am sure you wasnt bought up to this either but people still do all of the above and no body mentions standards then do they?
