Over Xmas, got my stock of 5 dozen TM Penta TP5. I hadnt played them before, but could not afford ProV1s. The Pentas are 5 layered and play really well. I have had some good outings with it and is a step up from the Srixion AD333. However, have started noticing that the TP5 do shred a fair bit. A ball may just about last 2 rounds.

One reason behind this could be because I am also starting to use my wedges as wedge rather than a club. So these days I get a bit of backspin rather than seeing the ball land and roll over to the far end of the green.

But still a bit disappointed to see an expensive ball shred so quickly. My Pinnacles/Dunlop last longer

The Pinnacles etc will last longer because they are harder - simple fact.
The cover on any Premium ball will shred much quicker purely because it's softer
And with sharp wedge grooves you'll be doing well to get 2 rounds out of a ball if you have a lot of 100 yard approaches..

I tend to hit the same ball for a few thousand shots a month in my net, its actually pretty shocking how any ball starts to break up and I tend to use the harder ones in the net as they have more life... the down side is they shatter after a while. So its shatter on the hard ones and massively degrade on the better ones.

I have never really tried any TM balls, is the Penta not one of the best ones? I guess the Penta TP is a little cheaper than the Penta?

The Penta was their top of the line ball and retailed around 35-40 quid mark. It comes in 2 types TP3 and TP5 (for 3 and 5 layers) This year, they introduced a new 'lethal' ball as their top of the range. So the Pentas were heavily discounted for clearing out stock. I got 5 doz for 100quid. I am happy to play with last year's best ball.

Hell ye, thats good money! I am thinking you can play without the "lethal"..... Penta sounds a lot less stupid!! =)

You gotta love TM's marketing team.. who decided to call their clubs as 'RocketBallz' and their balls as 'Lethal'. If nothing else, looks like the labels got swapped
