Just back from a 2 days at Wychwood Park the De Vere course at Crewe . Due to the course being so wet the use of the buggies was suspended and only trolleys with hedgehogs fitted were allowed so the guys that had their electric carts had to pay the £3 to hire a pull trolley or carry.
the starter told us a few things about the course before started that a member had recently measured the course during a medal and had walked 8 miles from 1st tee to walking off the final green.
our sunday round took 5hrs 40mins due to some of the walks between the green and and the next tee being further than the holes themselves.
the course was a total monster for me as a few of the holes i struggled to carry the water and conservation areas just to get onto the start of the fairway .
i havent put this in the review section as i cant say anything nice about the course itself apart from the houses that surround it were very big and impressive.

its a rubbish course. too long, too wet, greens are SLOOOOOOWWWW, hotel is pants, spa is the size of my kitchen sink

there are better deveres out there!

Interesting....I am playing here in June, and then again a number of times in August. I'm really looking forward to it, as it looks really nice!!

meh...I am young and fit, I don't mind walking it! It'll work off the alcohol from the night(s) before!!

1 out off 2 then. Tried to walk off the alcohol from night before and cause we stayed in crewe the Saturday night trust me there were lots off it (not so much on Sunday night at hotel surprisingly but think that's because they kept us out the bar by stringing the meal out to 3 hours for a set menu )

And no we won't be going back to this one next year

I'm suprised with such a poor review as I've played Wychwood Park a few times (March most recently) and found it to be a decent track, long but fair and didn't find the water coming in to play too often. I did once play there the day after a Europro 2 day event and found the pin positions were impossible (on slopes or just behind from bunkers). The hotel was also very good but we did eat out at a local pub which was great.

I've now played and stayed at Slaley Hall (Huntsman and Priestly), Oulton Hall, Mottram Hall, Carden Park (Nicklaus and Cheshire) and Herrons Reach and would play them all again although Herrons Reach was a slog as we booked late and struggled with the light.

The prices we've paid have been excellent especially when we've also booked to stay at the hotel at special rates starting at £30.00 a night for a twin room. Perhaps I'm easily pleased!
