Open competitions - give them a try

We have one this year, i think for the first time, on 26th July.

Homer, as Wimbledon Common was your former home several years ago, why dont you come over for a round then?

Not sure how much it is, wont be much tho..

Best way and cheapest way to play a course from the medal tees and usually in great condition.

The scratch comps sometimes have a practice day included the week before, so sometimes its 2 rounds for about £12-£15
it would be rude not to ;)

...and you get the chance to win some prizes/vouchers

Just looked at golf empire, really fancy playing the Pennard links open for just £16! Bargain!

I played in an open at Pennard last September on a lovely day. Think it was £15 or £18...bargain, but if I am honest with you, I was ready to leave after 3 holes - we teed off on the 4th 1hr 50 mins after starting! It was a medal so people we playing provisionals etc all the time as a lot of blind shots. It did speed up and we finished in just under 6 hours!

I did love the course though, and if I play in the open there this year it will be either a stableford or a very early start.

My course has got it's Open competition on the 10th & 11th April. I'm bricking it, truth be told haha!

83 people signed up already, that hasn't happened in years. I'm teeing off at 06.50 on the Thursday, then it's a shotgun start on the Friday.

Monthly Medal the week before, that should give the confidence a right hammering!

I've entered 6 opens around the north east, playing in pairs wi my bro. First competitive golf for me (my course doesn't really have comps) so a good way to get me used to it.

Fail to see why ANY golfer wouldnt play in Opens at other courses......I will be playing in as many as I can if I can get the transport.Just played Hexham on Friday gone £15 inc coffee and bacon sarnie......its £35 from today there WITHOUT food/drink.Just OUTSTANDING value, and chance to win something, and play with other new golfers.

Yeah I've heard it's a really nice course. I'm planning on playing in the stableford on September 4th, so hopefully slow play won't be too much of an issue.
