A general thread for any Open championship comments that don't come under any other thread.

I'll start by saying I'm delighted to see Keegan Bradley has stopped spitting on the golf course.

How long did the camera spend looking at that woman adjusting her bra? Why was that more interesting than the golf? I demand an inquiry!

Surprised to see so many flooded bunkers this morning - would have thought the standing water would have been pumped out

There was mention that the water table is so high that when they pump out the bunkers thay are just filling up again from underneath.

Thought there'd be an explanation - not loads of rain last night so was really surprised to see that this morning.

it rained last night and the ground was already flooded,to be honest i think LYTHAM is to small now for the open, lovely old fashioned course but very claustrophobic.

R&A need to ask themselves why the waterlogged bunkers are not GUR.

Also the course looks guff from the air, that's not a true links in my opinion.

Technically it is, im told the defination of "true" links is a railway line between the course and the beach or a railway line running the length of the course.

Don't know how relevant that is but there you go, however a links course in a housing estate?

Railway lines have nothing to do with a course being a links. It is to do with the land the course is built on.

Perhaps the R & A are hedging their bets regarding global warming. Once the sea level rises, this may be the only links course left on the rota ;)

Can only post what im told bud.

And would highlight again the part "TRUE" links, many class links courses are no where near railways but many what are termed as "TRUE" links are.

Where's Jezz, he'll know for certain.

I have to say that I would LOVE to play a round there, its really appeals to me, 200 bunkers or not.

Lytham is probably closer to the sea than The Old Course.

Between Lytham and the sea are the Railway track and the houses, about 500 yards.
Between the Old Course and the sea are the New Course and Jubilee.

I suppose theres the loop on the estuary at the old course, is it 8-11, but underfoot and visually that really doesn't feel like Linksland in my opinion.

Tel me, how come they could not pump the water out of the bunker? It could not have been that hard could it?
