Only 2 players complete round, but CSS stays SSS

Hi all

Title might not explain the question too well. Here goes:

A 2 day medal is held. Saturday is a total washout, of 30 odd players only 2 return scores, all others NR.

Sunday is played all ok.

One player on Saturday shoots nett 74. Miracle. Other is a nett 86.

Results come in, and we’re told that because the “system” would add .1 to all NRs on Saturday, the Saturday round is reductions only. The comp on Sat is treated as abandoned, so the CSS is SSS. Not sure why or how this is, we’re just told they are the rules.

Now, before the Saturday comp is treated as abandoned, HDID tells the player who shot 74 the CSS was 75, so he gets a cut. Now the system says it’s abandoned, he gets nothing as he shot buffer.

So, 2 questions. First, can the Saturday be abandoned but Sunday not? Second, does my mate feel rightly hard done by for slogging it out, shooting a cracking score and only just making buffer??

18.7 If a Qualifying Competition is abandoned for any valid reason, the Competition Scratch Score shall be regarded as equal to the Standard Scratch Score and players returning Nett Differentials of less than zero shall have their Exact Handicaps reduced to the extent dictated by the Nett Differential. A Nett Differential of zero or above shall not result in a handicap increase.

Only the committee can decide to cancel. Whether they should have depends on the circumstances. They can't cut it short though.

We have a 2 day medal play either Friday or Saturday separate CSS each day. A few times we've completed the Friday comp, only for the Saturday comp to be washed out then both days comps are cancelled. But if the Friday comp is a washout and cancelled the Saturday comp still goes ahead and results stand.
Granted the Friday comp is supposed to be an extra and intended for players who can't get a tee time on the Saturday.

The committee cannot just cancel a qualifier once it has finished. The competition scores must be processed and the CDH updated.
The committee may decide that the results will not count for competition purposes (providing the terms of competition make provision for it).
