I have a Core2duo 2.6 GHz processor and black ops 2 states it needs a core2duo 2.66GHz processor. Firstly will it work, Will it be glitchy as hell or do I need to upgrade to a 2.66 or higher?
It's £40 for the game but if I need to upgrade my CPU it's gonna cost closer to 100 notes and not worth it.

The processor will be fine. What graphics card do you have as that will more than likely be the deciding factor on whether it is playable at a reasonable framerate and quality.

Are you looking at the minimum system requirements or the recommended system requirements?

Some of these new games do require a pretty decent PC to run properly
Your CPU should be ok, how much Ram and what graphics card do you have?

4GB ram and ATI Radeon HD2400XT 512MB graphics card and about 600GB or free HD space. Should be fine on these counts it was just the processor that didn't come up to spec.

Andy that video card is going to struggle. As long as it is pci express though, you should be fine to upgrade to something with a bit more beef.

Well I bit the bullet and bought the game with the intention of upgrading my video card if needed. So far so good. I've played 3 levels of the campaign and had 4 games of multiplayer with no glitches at all. I did have to spend an hour setting up my video card settings but it's working great. Brilliant game and love the online maps.
