...or don't use anything and just yack it. ("yack" is east midlands slang for throw, hoy, shy etc)

As kids we used to make mud-yacks. You'd get a good length of stick around 3 or 4 feet long growing in a hedge (I think ash used to work well) and strip it of all leaves and side twigs.
Then get some soft mud, Leicestershire is built on clay soil so it was easy to find soil that could be moulded into a nice ball, and stick it on the thinner end of the stick.

Then you'd swing the stick overhead, much like those dog ball throwers, and launch the mud ball, which went a surprisingly long way and if a good target was around you could stick mud balls to it. Or of course, you could also aim at each other.

Ah, the small pleasures of the pre-computer age. :)

I would use either of three clubs that I have.
Ping i10 7-iron (21st century)
Maxfli Australian Blade 6-iron (1978)
Forgan Powerpakt 5-iron (1961)
What the lofts might be I'm not certain - they all could be very similar - the shaft lengths are very close.
The main point for me is that I hit all three about the same distance.
