After a lot of rummaging I also manged to find a wooden shafted putter that I remembered was in the garage.
It's got a load of loft on it, must be for the old greens where grass used to be longer than today.

I've just won these, going to see if I can pick them up on the 6th of Feb when I'm heading up to Manchester. Got to try and find some woods and a putter now!

Love the look of those Accu-Flow Plus irons!

According to the Titleist website the Accu-Flow plus are 1982-83 and the Acushnet AC-108 are some of their earliest at 1972-76

That's interesting, I already have my eyes on some assorted woods and other clubs in Leicester, excited to try and hit them though, that should be interesting!

Right, I have found my old driver, 2 wood, 4 wood, 2 , 3,4,5,6,9 and wedge. Just got to find the putter now and hopefully, 7 and 8 irons.

Wooden shafted putters are pretty common on ebay and not too pricey, until you add in the postage.

To complete my set I just need a sand wedge. A nice 5 wood would also come in handy, hopefully be able to pick both of these up from a charity shop.

Sand wedge sorted, a Dunlop "Peter Thomson" for £1 from the local charity shop.
The grooves aren't the best but, with a legendary name like Peter Thomson on the back, I've got to make a few up and downs and maybe even a golden ferret...

I've also got the Brasso out on the putter and it's come up nicely.

Time to start thinking about a date for this.
We currently have four names but I'm more than happy to add more if people interested.

The deal at Whittington Heath is £160 for a fourball so £40 each including breakfast, available up until the end of March.
I'm thinking a Monday or Friday would probably be best, but what are your preferences for day and time?

1. Crow
2. garyinderry
3. dan2844
4. Bigfoot

Second fourball if enough interest:
1.
2.
3.
4.

Would prefer Friday.

It will be a nice start to the weekend.

I work shifts so my availability varies from week to week. If you looking for Fridays, I can do March 4th, 11th and 18th but am working 25th. In February, 26th. Mondays 7th and 21st of March are free.

it would have to be about 1:30 PM for me if it was a Friday so i can book 1/2 day at work.

Pulling that together then I see the best date as 18th March, which is a Friday and will give us the most daylight for a 1.30 tee off, sunset in Lichfield is 6.18 so we'd probably have until 6.30 playable light which gives us a comfortable 5 hours in which to embarrass ourselves.

Dan, if 1.30 is the earliest you can do then I think you'll have to miss the breakfast as it might delay the start to a point where we struggle to get round, although we should be able to take your bacon butty out to the tee for you to eat on the course.

Assuming everyone is okay with that I'll speak to Whittington Heath tomorrow to confirm.

Thanks ruff-driver, nice looking irons and a generous offer!
I think the four of us confirmed are sorted for irons, but if anybody else is considering joining us then this makes a great start to your set. :D

i will hopefully be able to be there for 1, if i'm lucky with traffic. it is 55 mins from my work to Whittington Heath, i've worked on the MOD Barracks there before so there shouldn't be any traffic problems. but 12:00 is the earliest i can get out of work so i just wanted to allow a little time to get changed and stretch off. not that it will make much difference :D im not a bacon man anyway so you can have 2, i'll take the tea though :p
