Ok so the TopTracer has been lying to me … following on from previous thread.

For those that are aware I have now got new accurate data which I’d like some of you to look at and see what you think.

I started off ok as I ran through the motions hitting my SW - 8i. At this point I stopped for a quick chat and got the fitter to film my swing during my 7i. I genuinely got some sort of ‘brain freeze’ during this point and forgot a lot of what I’ve been learning so from here on out I have some real issues with the ball not going central. .

The numbers shouldn’t lie too much (compared to the TT) so would be interesting to hear your thoughts on what is going on here.

The fitter did mention that I should keep my clubs for this season and then look into buying a ‘forged’ set next season.

FYI I was striking with a brand new Pro V1. Do the gappings look ok and any other insight / advice would be greatly
appreciated.

Cheers

As I mentioned before, be careful about getting paralysis through analysis! Just concentrate on hitting it well, and then get out on the course. Make a note on whether you are hitting straight, left or right then discuss this with your pro. He will give you the drills to correct the miss and then practise these drills. I bet most golfers don’t know, and don’t care what spin, angles, etc they hit as long as it goes where they aim

A number of things;

Very low spin across the data. Average for a 7 iron should be around 7,000.

Obvious the attack angle is steep which makes the distance really impressive. Your swing speed is 10mph higher than the average golfer and you're nearer PGA level. Launch angle is low too. The peak height is way off so must be a technical issue on that. Clearly a powerful player from that data!

I bought a PRGR the other day. I went to the range and jotted down my numbers and marker penned them on the back of my clubs like Lee Westwood does. My distances are way down on yours ?. I have a short swing but hit a lot of straight balls. I worked up from pitching wedge and it was 5 iron where I struggled to gain the gap (carry). I think I’ll get another hybrid/rescue.

I get this vibe where a few victor meldrews have decided to pipe up talking about just going out to enjoy playing golf …. During a period where storms are blowing the country down? Yeah nice one fellas ?

Knowledge is power.

If I can learn about this sport and my own game during times where it’s virtually impossible to play then I don’t understand why people want to knock me for it. To understand why a ball does a certain thing (from data) will no doubt help me.

are spin numbers supposed to be higher the lower you go with the irons? And how does it affect the ball? From my 7i -5i I wasn’t striking the ball as well as I have been but it’s not i’m sure it’s not too far off.

What irons are you using out of interest?

Cobra 1 length (all 8i length)

Peak heights and decent angles look far better now. 100% usable.
Spin number are a little low, but to be expected out of one length irons with funky lofts.

Nice one. My big concern was the ‘roll out’ people picked up on from previous thread but seems like it was a top tracer issue? I shouldn’t have trouble holding greens with the above it seems

If I was you I'd be replacing those irons. Spin is too low and your getting too much run. Your carries are similar to mine but even with a 5 iron I tend to have less than 5yds of run out.

I’ll definitely be looking into this over the summer. A few people have mentioned on here the same and even when the fitter planted that seed in my head today I think I’m going to have to do it a lot sooner than I thought.

I think time in the Sim Room while there's gales outside it time well spent. Even if its just to keep the muscles loose and to scratch an itch.

Applying some business language here, remember to measure both inputs and outcomes. The challenge is making effective connections between the two.

Why not get a lend of a set of normal irons and see where you are at with them.

If you live somewhere like Ireland or scotland where it rains all the time you might get away with low spin as courses tend to be softer. If you live in southern England where courses bake out for long periods over the summer you may have big problems with those spin numbers.

Nah I’d rather spend it enjoying a round outdoors risking my life from falling trees. Lol

I’ve been lent a club in the past and found myself getting very attached by not wanting to give it back. I’ll get fitted once the season is out ready for next year ??
