Ok Own Up, Who Uses A 7 Wood

I've got an MD 11 wood that's been out on the course on the odd occasion but its too close to my 6 iron in terms of distance etc to carry both

Used one for the first time yesterday, my mate just got one and loves it so I thought I would try it, but the ball flight was about the same height as my PW !! So will stick to my 3&5 woods for now.

But seeing as I'm 50 next month, you never know I might have to reconsider

Over the summer I swapped out my 3h for a 7w. Same distance but flight was much higher so worked well for soft landings on firm greens. Also gives lots of confidence standing over the ball at address. I'm thinking how can I not hit this well.
Agreed got fed up wih negative thoughts when I tee'd it up with the 3 and 4, dont get this with the 7 wood and that confidence carries to the rest of my game.
As for the question why a 7 wood when there is hybrids available in these loft, it all a matter of head shape for me as I feel far more comfortable with the traditional shaped head, to me a hybrid looks like half a head!

I agree.gif

I used to have a MD Superstrong 7 wood and it was so easy to hit.

I swapped it for a Mizuno JPX 825 No5 Hybrid, (25 degree), which is more like a cross between a hybrid and fairway but is stupid easy to hit high and long. I'm not sure how accurate the loft is as the Mizuno hits the ball the same distance as the 7 wood did, (175 yds).

I also know a senior who uses a Callaway 9 wood for the 150-160 yd par 3's and he just takes an easy swing and doesn't miss them very often

I do and love it, got an immaculate Titleist PT23, ditched my 3 and 4 irons and havent looked back.180-190yds this club is so easy to use.Confidence which as we know is what golf is all about is truly restored when you make the game easier.

No! I can't hit my 5-wood far enough most of the time (I'm a senior), so why should I want a 7-wood? I do admit to having a 21 degree hybrid though, which fills the gap between my woods and my longest iron. :)

Im now a senior  and have found that the 7 wood is surprisingly easy to hit compared to the 5 wood. I am on a parkland course and put it down to current conditions rather than my ability ;)
