I did post earlier that I always intended to play and I just wanted to see what others of you thought and at least it was a different take on handicap protection!
It was refreshing to read that you all would play and not worry about the handicap which is exactly what I would have advised too
To the comment that the OP was ridiculous I can only say - thanks for your kind sentiment and I will endevour to think of a better subject for a thread before I next post one!

I was in the same position a couple of years back and birdied the last to just get in the buffer and stay off 5.4. What a good feeling that was. Just go for it, if you manage to stay off 11.4 you will be chuffed, if not then so what?
