Such a weird game this golf lark, I havent played that much lately and when I have played, to coin a football cliche, its a game of 2 halves.
I played this morning with a lad from work at Temple Newsam in Leeds not having played there for about 6 months and wasnt really expecting too much from it, but what started as an excellent round soon became just a decent round and I ended up walking off wondering "what if?"
1st - long par 4 and I made regulation par, never had better than 5 on the hole before.
2nd - short par 4 (240yds ish), on the green from the tee and made a birdie
3rd - par 3 and walked off with a double
4th - par 4 and walked off with a double
5th - par 4 (280yds ish), on the green from the tee and sunk the eagle putt
6th - OOB from the tee, finished with double
7th - par 3 and finished with bogey
8th - par 4 and made par
9th - par 4 and ended up with double
The entire back 9 was made up of 3 par's & the rest bogeys but it was all so inconsistent, i'd hit 2 or 3 really good strikes and then follow up with a complete duffer to ruin another good scoring chance.
I must've missed at least 4 putts from within 4ft, but each time I missed a short one I'd hole a longer one straight after!
This game certainly has a habit of biting you on the ass in the most horrible of ways, I just cant seem to find that special day when everything works and clicks into place!
