Not so common courtesy.

As a contrast, me and Jan played at Rufford park a while back, had a lovely time and previewed the course on here.
It was printed in GM and I got this email from the head pro.

"Dear Bob,
Many thanks for the write up, I had already seen it in Golf Monthly as loads of members had copied it for me.

Please feel free to come and play at Rufford anytime, just let me know.

All the best,

James Thompson"

Says it all. :D

I think the problem in this day and age is not letting Ladies become club captin.

There is a Lady Captin but she at most places that I know of is the captain of the Ladies section. Same as the Seniors, first team etc.

The club captin is the captin of the whole club and is generally expected to interact with all sections of the club and has a responceability to all members.

I don't think captins of sections should have the right to recieve courtsey at other clubs however there should be no reason now not to have a lady club captin.

Bob/Jan

I don't think that yours is an isolated case.

Extract from our club committee minutes from the Lady Captain.. "Clubs charging for courtesies should be afforded the same ‘courtesy’ when visiting our club "....

Mike, we may well take you up on that kind offer.
We had a few days in Ireland last year and played Port Arlington, RathDowney and Mount Juliet. We had a brilliant time and will hopefully be going back for more of the same next year. :)

How very last century. I cannot believe that it would have been a huge upheaval to do the decent thing and extend the courtesy. Equality, decency or chivalry.

I think where the OP says 'nice course' we can assume it's a good/popular/expensive-ish green fee golf course....many of these clubs offer courtesy rounds to pros/captains etc but you have to draw the line somewhere otherwise they'll just have a golf course full of freebie seekers (I assume you were getting your round free too Bob?)..

Many of the 'better' courses now don't do 'standard' courtesy rounds now unless you're taking paying punters or make you pay a reduced fee (like the members guest rate)..

Do you 'expect' a free round everywhere you play Bob as a Pro? Or is it a 'subject to availability' offer that is generously extended by golf clubs?
