Later in the year I'm going to play 3 senior opens which are non-qualifying events also a 3 day society event.

Now I thought I read somewhere that the rules have been changed and I can now submit these cards for handicap purposes, also can 'bounce' games be submitted also?

If correct is there any time limit before handing in the cards as I won't be back at my own course for 2weeks.

Not sure why the opens are not qualifiers, presume BB or not a singles format but in both cases the cards would be used in reviews so being away for a couple of weeks isn't a problem.

I am always a bit cautions with society cards as I never know how lax the rules are.

Supplementary scores can be returned for handicapping purposes but they are returned against the SSS and NOT the CSS of the day.

You should submit your scores Into your committee every time you play away in comps but they won’t change your HC - they will be used at the AR

Society scores not really though

I'm afraid they can't be used for handicap adjustment. You must return them to your club to be used as supporting information at the next annual review.

I think this what you've seen.

Recording of Non-Qualifying Scores

From 1st January 2017 England Golf require players to return all scores in competitive golf in Non-Qualifying Competitions away from the players home clubs, to assist handicap committees with handicap reviews. (CONGU UHS - Clause 4.5b/8.12).

Please note these scores must not directly affect a player’s handicap, but should be used as ‘supporting evidence’ of performance when it comes to a handicap review.
Individual scores or Team results must be returned in all Singles, Am-Am and 4BBB with the exception of Texas Scrambles, Foursomes and Greensome competitions, or casual social rounds.

The information does not have to be recorded on the handicap software, but should be stored in a format that can be used for any handicap review.
Information to be recorded:
ï‚· Date of Competition
ï‚· Format of Competition (inc Handicap Allowance)
ï‚· Venue/Course
ï‚· Tees used
ï‚· SSS of Course
ï‚· Names of playing partners (if a team/pairs event)
ï‚· Score returned
Failure to return these scores by the player could result in loss or suspension of handicap under clause 24.1.

To minimise the work load of the club committee, we have produced a template form that clubs may use to allow players to record non-qualifying scores (Non-Qualifying Scores Return Form).

Guidance to Clubs running Open Competitions.
We also request that clubs running open competitions return the scores of the top 5 places to the player’s or team’s home club. To assist with this, we have designed a pro forma that a club can complete and return. This could be done by post or email (Non-Qualifying Scores Open Return Form).

Like you I tend to return the cards when I next visit the club. Really just getting into the habit for when the new handicap system arrives. Very much in the minrity though looking at the forms in the locker room.

The requirement is in the current system but may or may not be in the new system
