NFL 2024

It's all fixed. Waste of time watching. How on earth did that bloke not catch the ball in the end zone v the cheats? That's what he does for a living. It not difficult. He's a bloke, we can do these things. Dropped it my bum!

Wow - how to unpick the whole Liam Coen to Jacksonville situation. A few layers on this one.

Jacksonville - a dumpster fire of a franchise and it starts at the top with Shahid Khan. He lets his terrible GM Trent Baalke start the hiring process and then fires him Wednesday night.
Coen - turns down the job, accepts a new three year contract extension to be the highest paid OC in the NFL in remaining with the Bucs. Goes back on his word with Tampa, does a second interview with Khan and takes the job. He has really burned a lot of bridges around the NFL with this move as the other 31 franchises will have long memories. There are only 32 head coaching jobs so I get the motivation but to do it that way, wow.
Bucs fans - losing their minds on social media overnight as a handful really hate Todd Bowles already and blame him for some reason. They are probably on the phone to the recently-pardoned Proud Boys.

I never get when a coordinator turns down a head coaching role. As you say, there are only 32 of those jobs on the planet, you get a fully guaranteed contract that sets you for life even if you balls it up and there is no guarantee the job offer will ever come around again if you have a poor season the next year. In the case of the Bucs coordinator, if Baker gets injured early he can basically kiss good bye to any job offers the year after. Just look at Leftwich for an example, was a pretty hot commodity after the Super Bowl win and a couple of season later out the league.

I don't think Leftwich actually turned down any jobs but the point still stands. Take the job when offered. I was amazed Coen turned down the first offer, thought for sure he would take it.

Byron Leftwich got shafted by Tom Brady's final 2022 season when he ignored the play calls and just started dumping off passes quickly to avoid getting hit. Teams started playing eight or nine in the box and the Bucs' running game accordingly went nowhere. So Leftwich took the fall at the end of the season being replaced by Dave Canales and then Liam Coen who both got HC jobs after one year in the role.

"I was amazed when Coen turned down the Raiders" - should read "I'd be amazed if anyone said yes to the Raiders" :ROFLMAO:

It's the Raiders but it's still an NFL head coaching job. Glenn just took the Jets job which looks every bit as bad as the Raiders.

Someone is going to take the Saints job which looks worse than the Raiders. At least the Raiders have a ton of cap space, I've no idea how the Saints field a team without kicking the can down the road yet again. It's eventually going to catch up to them.

Translated as "Jerry wants to carry on being the 'star' of the show" - shame as having Deion Sanders would have been hilarious for the other 31 teams in the league.

Ave mentioned before about when I played against a team from Hawaii and got battered. Had a clear out of the loft last week and found this. 6 weeks off work with a knackered knee that game cost me. 😖😂👍

I remember reading that game in Gridiron UK - I definitely covered the British final for them that season. There was one final I did at Crystal Palace when I was chatting to someone I thought was on the coaching staff and then found it was Jermaine Jackson when he went to sing the national anthem. Nick Halling was laughing so hard he was crying and then when we did the commentary, kept throwing Jackson Five song titles in all day.

Super Bowl Sunday.jpg

Sorry for throwing this one in but it's the anniversary of Super Bowl XXXVII in Qualcomm Stadium when the Bucs beat the Raiders. So I know what I will be watching again. Nothing will ever touch this for being at a sporting event.

well I wasn't confident going into tonight. At least a game too far for this team. But my god, it's like watching a play by play guide in how to help Philly win! 5/7 drives ending in a touchdown against you is frankly embarrassing.
