NFL 2024

Contrasting views on the season from the two losing teams - for Washington, 2024 was a massive success, totally over-performed and Jaydon Daniels is a real superstar in the making (just remember RG3 was the same as a rookie). For Buffalo, total dejection and disappointment as losing to the Chiefs again. Allen is 0-4 against Mahomes in the playoffs and heaven forbid a Buffalo stat involving going 0-4 .....

Ndamukong Suh came across pretty well on the Sky set from what I have heard and the limited parts I saw. Shame he was such a dick when he played and was so off-the-field when he was with the Bucs.

As for the Super Bowl, who gives a toss? Two more weeks of bloody Taylor Swift. I admire what the Chiefs have done though but I am just sick of all the memes claiming the referees are on their side and it is all fixed. Leave that for the neanderthals arguing on social media over a supposed biased Premier League referee and Arsenal.

Really enjoyed both games last night.

Eagles are some force, playmakers across both sides of the ball who are turning up when it matters. Credit to their Centre who just kept playing on despite being visibly hurt early on.

Bills v Chiefs was everything you'd expect, high drama, explosive plays and some amazing QB play. Everyone will moan about the refs etc but Buffalo failed to capitalise too many times when in possession.

Going to be an amazing Superbowl in 2 weeks time!

I messaged my friends about Suh last night - he's a superb analyst to be fair!

Why did the change the Pro Bowl ?

It used to be after the Super Bowl and be sort of a semi serious game but seems it’s now flag football and some skills games ?
Players had stopped going to it so they changed it to these challenge things. Tyler Huntley made the pro bowl a few seasons ago as a 4th alternative after throwing for 650 yards in the season.

Think they also move it around rather than just being in Hawaii.

The Pro Bowl has become even more of a joke than it used to be. The only way it could really survive now is:-

1. Play it AFTER the Super Bowl. Make it an end-of-term party event and it has to be in Hawaii.
2. No flag football, skills or other crap like that. Actually play AFC v NFC - players in their own team helmets.
3. OK go easier on blocking and tackles, run every trick play you can think of - but make it entertainment and a celebration.

Trent Dilfer told me a great story from when he went to the 1997 Pro Bowl. Rookies were conned into letting veteran players know their room numbers and then they found out they had been charged with everything to it. The hotel was always in on it.

It’s been a while since I watched it but it used be enjoyable when after the Super Bowl even when they weren’t going full blown at each other and used to thrown in some massive throws and trick plays etc

The late Martin Fennelly livened up a Tampa Tribune sports dinner I was at once by throwing in the line "the only way you could liven up the Pro Bowl would be if the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor again at half-time". Epic moment.

When I visited Hawaii on my round the world trip I was massively underwhelmed with the Aloha stadium. It looked a dump.Ave just read it’s shut. That said I agree it should be held there, but am gobsmacked that the NFL have not sold there soul and it’s played in Saudi Arabia.

The Super Bowl trophy is named after Vince Lombardi, the legendary Green Bay Packers coach who led his team to wins in the first two Super Bowls.

However, Bill Belichick said coaches can't win games without the players and suggested the Lombardi Trophy be renamed after Tom Brady, who won an NFL-record seven Super Bowl rings in his career -- six with Belichick as his head coach.

Belichick, the former New England Patriots head coach who is now the coach at the University of North Carolina, made his comments on the "Let's Go!" podcast this week in a conversation with co-host Jim Gray.

As a Pats fan. That’s a rubbish idea. Maybe the MVP player of the superbowl wins the Brady trophy or whatever but the Super Bowl trophy is the Lombardi trophy. 👍

Belichick is becoming more of an ass every time he opens his mouth. He is bitter at people ripping his last few drafts and seasons (which were terrible) and he is bitter that no NFL team offered him a job (guess why Bill). This a stupid idea and done for clickbait and attention seeking.

Vince Lombardi was not just a great coach but instrumental in the Super Bowl becoming the Super Bowl after the NFL-AFL merger. It is the right name, the same as the MVP is named for Pete Rozelle, the man who made the NFL the NFL.

Tell me you want to rename it The Belichick Trophy without actually saying it. :)
