Pats on fire again 😖
Epically poor, even more inept than the Dolphins which was surprising.
I had a quick look at that game and realised my old buddy Chris Myers was calling it for FOX. Whichever game Chris calls is the real dregs of the week.
Dregs of the week game getting the dregs of the announcing crew? Thought him and Buttfumble Sanchez were poor, getting the downs and distance wrong, pointing out Miami weren't getting plays in quick enough when they are lined up with 15 seconds on the play clock etc. Then again, maybe they just weren't into it, I'm a Miami fan and I turned it over and watched Redzone for 2 quarters it was that bad.

Sanchez is doing color on a national scale? Jeez that's bad. Then again we had a Matt Millen game earlier this year alongside Tim Brando - that was poor. Chris calls the Bucs pre-season games for WFLA Channel 8 who I work for and is OK on those. He's been OK on national FOX games for us over the years.

At least "The Corpse of Dick Stockton" has retired. He was so bad in his final years. Nick Halling once called a game for FOX in the early 2000s which was a real honour. I was talking last year in Tampa with former Falcon QB Matt Ryan about his moving to the commentary booth. He was alongside Tiki Barber in a 3-man crew.

Tampa Bay and the West Coast of Florida is about to get hit by Hurricane Milton. This one is coming in from the Gulf of Mexico directly into Clearwater Beach/Tampa. Most of the others come up from the South and lose a lot of their power before they hit the area. The Bucs and Lightning moved their base out of State yesterday. But I have so many friends in the area - many have already evacuated from the coast across into Pinellas County. This is not going to be pleasant and my thoughts and prayers are with them. When you spend so much time out there, it really hits home.

I cannot even imagine the torture of being a Jets fan over the last 55 years. There is probably no more unpopular QB in the NFL than Aaron Rodgers (now Kaepernick is out of the picture) so there will be a lot of sniggering around the league. A friend of mine is the PR Director of the Packers and they had one hell of a party to celebrate Rodgers leaving Green Bay. Now he is stuck with the Jets and they are stuck with him.

Broncos with a new steady start

Nix is growing into the role after a slow start , looking like a potential dual threat QB

The real star of the weekend was Surtain - prob the best CB in the league at the moment

Can hopefully sneak a wild card spot this season

The Jets are a mess as usual. From different reports I've read Salah was considering binning off Hackett (Rodgers mate by all accounts) and instead Salah gets sacked and escorted off the premises by security. Bizarre timing as well as the AFC East is a complete mess, if they beat the Bills on Monday the Jets would be leading the division.

Also you hate to see Josh Allen's head bounce off the ground, get completely knocked out, lying face down with limp arms, gets helped off the field but is then back in the game after a quick check over and a big whiff of smelling salts. I thought there was a rule that any player knocked out had to leave the game and wasn't allowed to return, a boxer that gets knocked out can't fight for another 90 days, this is like dragging him back to the corner, giving him some smelling salts and sending him back out for the next round. Unsurprisingly Allen was 0/8 when he came back into the game. What's the point of having a "spotter" in the crowd if they are missing obvious things like this. Still the only QB taken out of a game due to a spotter is Bridgewater for the Dolphins straight after the Tua concussion against Cincinnati. Strange that.

Allen also whacked the back of his head off the ground against the Ravens the week before (and hurt his shoulder) and comes out and has a stinker against the Texans while getting knocked out (hurt his ankle/chest this time). Will be interesting to see how he fairs against the Jets on Monday.

Deshaun Watson has to be up there with Rodgers but yeah, everything you read about Rodgers makes him seem like a bit of a nutter.

One of the best concussion stories that did the rounds involved Tony Romo when he was with Dallas. He was being checked out on the sideline and one of the other players said to ask him if he thought Jessica Simpson (his then girlfriend) was attractive. If Romo replied yes, then he was concussed.

Watson is playing like he has the money and just doesn't care but Rodgers is in a class of his own in terms of unpopularity. Well ever since Jeff Garcia left the NFL. There was a reason he was with five teams in six years and it was the Bucs who had him for two. Wow he was hated in the locker room by the second season. Totally played for himself - there was a story about the linemen going to let the defense through to kill him on a play to teach him a lesson but it turned out to be an urban myth in terms of actually happening. But it sure was discussed.

He is interested first in himself, then himself, then his image, then himself again. He went out of his way to get the maximum salary he could at Green Bay but then started bitching about the team not having enough room under the cap to sign other good players. He was frequently missing off-season camps to do his own stuff.

Another one from the past who was like that was Ran-doll Cunningham. He was legendary for his poor attitude. He once took a game film home to allegedly study and came back in the next day saying he had watched it twice. The coaching staff had put a small slip of paper in the film that would have fallen out if he had watched it. He also once refused to throw a Hail Mary pass at the end of the first half of a game because an interception might affect his passing stats.

The Raiders famously did that to Jamarcus Russell as well didn't they, giving him a blank video cassette?

Yes they did - he only had one good game ever - just happened to be the 2008 season finale for the Bucs when we lost our fourth straight to miss the playoffs and Jon Gruden got canned.
