Might seem obvious to you lot , are golf holes measured " as the crow flies" .

For instance if you have a severe dogleg right , is it measured round the dogleg or over the trees ?

I would say, on a dog-leg, the measure goes from tee to the middle of the fairway at the apex of the corner and then on to the green.
We have a 460 yard par 4 that is something like 380 as the Crow flies.....

As Imurg say's,holes are measured along the centre of the fairway,from the centre of the tee,to the centre of the green.On dog legs the measurement would be taken from the tee to the apex of the dog leg,then from the apex to the centre of the green.
My clubs course was remeasured recently,and this is how it was done.

Basically as above but some yardages are to the front of the green others to the middle,just ask in the pro shop.

whilst some information might be based that way, 'hole length' is always tee marker plate to green centre.

Are you confusing the hole length on the card with distances in the strokesaver guide or on sprinklers? Strokesavers usually give distance to the front of the green.

Course Measurement and the Importance of Yardage
As yardage is the predominant factor in allocating a SSS, accurate measurement
is essential. Measurement shall be along the horizontal plane from the Distance
Point to the centre of the green of each hole. In the case of a dog-leg hole,
measurement shall be along the centre line of the fairway to the axis and then to
the centre of the green.
