Hi guys,

Joined today and must say its nice to see how friendly everyone is. You know what some people can be like when hiding behind their keyboard!

Basically i would say im definitely starting out but apparently have bags of potential. Going from last season self teaching to now having a couple of lessons i can see a massive difference where i now not only hit the ball alot Sweetly more consistently but when i dont, i know why i haven't.

The main reason for my post is to ask anyone local where are good spots to pay & play locally.

I play lea marston, boldmere, and will be trying hilltop soon. Any good suggestions where i wont end up throwing my sticks in the garage straight after never to see the light of day. Ha.

Im sure everyone is the same but im Missing the long days where you can leave the office and easily squeeze 9 holes in.

Give it time - it has its moments and does kick off now and then but usually all is forgiven and we play nicely most of the time Enjoy your time on the best golf forum in the world

welcome Davey, I am sure folk will recognise them courses and give you decent alternatives to try out

(also plenty of forum meets at top courses all over the place)

Hi and welcome. You sound like you are not far from me.

Pay and play courses I can recommend are Wishaw, Stonebridge and Calderfields. All decent enough and wont leave you in pieces after. Stonebridge now has 27 holes, but I have not played the new 9.

Some mates and I used to play the three I mentioned along with Boldmere and Pype Hayes. Hatchford Brook is also worth a look by the airport.

Feel free to contact me for anymore courses or a game sometime.

Hatchford Brook is an easy course but I played there regulary when i first started. Widney Manor is just down the M42 and should be challenging enough without wanting you to throw the clubs in the river.

Hi mate have you tried Pype Hayes golf course? Also Wishaw is very good and has a nice hole over water which can be fun :-) Hilltop isnt bad you should enjoy it.

Cheers mate will do, living at the range at the moment so hopefully ready for the summer.

Welcome DaveyG. Hilltop is a good municipal, can get quite windy, but it's fairly forgiving. If you want to really test yourself pop down to the Lickey Hills, the front 9 are brutal. A cheap course nearby is Widney Manor but you get constant noise from the M42. I quite like Lichfield, quite reasonable if you use 2for1 vouchers.
