Guys,

I have been lurking in the shadows of this forum for some time now and have really enjoyed the comments and also found it one of the most useful golf forums around so thought I'd come out into the open.

I am currently based in Dubai (there are no golf forums here, for the moment) and am getting back to be a somewhat regular golfer after some years of neglect. Playing off approx 27-28 (no official h/c yet) but improving as have taken a few lessons lately.

Have played in most of the courses here in Dubai so if any of you guys are planning to come down and need some advice or thinking of a game, give me a shout. Also, if there are any forum users based in the UAE, do let me know as it would be good to catch up.

Cheers,

Welcome to the forum. What a lovely place you live. I have friends who live in Dubai, I visited in 2007. Didn't play any golf though, but I did go snowboarding at the mall of emirates

I shall return one day, with the clubs. I may even seek you out for a game. :D

Get stuck in and enjoy!

Hi 'answers'
We have a friend in Dubai right now (non-golfer) and would be interested to know the golf set-up - how much for visitors to pay - do you need own transport to courses etc - If you have time to report.

Cheers

Hello and welcome! Or shokran gozillan if you prefer! I'll be taking you up on your kind offer as I'm out there this summer and will PM you about some ideas.

Good to have you on board - and you're right about lack of golf-based internet stuff for Dubai!

The only golf I played was at the Jebel Ali course out beyond the freeport. I had relatives out there who joined the beach club at Mena Seyahi (?) which was a really good friendly place for ex-pats to meet up and relax at weekends. That and the aero club, Irish club, Rugby club etc etc. I spent three summer holidays from 2001, in consecutive years, and the changes in such a short space of time were amazing, even more so now I would imagine.
Enjoy the lifestyle while you can, the turnover of employees working in the Emirates seems quite high, maybe they don't want you to experience heaven on earth for too long!
All the best,
Rick.

Thank you all for the kind welcome - just what I would expect from the forum.

Please pm me if there are any specific things I could help with down here. For anyone wanting to play here, anytime after mid-April to say October is not on unless golf in 45deg plus is your thing ...
