I have just seen on their website that Titleist are preparing to release a new range of Drivers in November (October in the US) called the 909 range, with a D Comp, D2 and D3 model. Having used the current 907 D2 for a round a couple of weeks ago (In my opinion it was miles better than the new Taylormade Tour Burner which I tried on the range) I can not wait to give these a go when they come out. Anybody else interested or do you think they will be little different from the current range and just a money making ploy?

Neil Tappin GM's deputy editor went for an exclusive preview of these a couple of weeks ago - plus they have new fairway, hybrid and some new vokey wedges coming - and was very impressed

He got about two hours on the range with the product and thought the drivers were a big improvement on the D1 and D2s

Titleist are obviously going for it in terms of making the product as high performance as possible as they are doing Aldila Voodoo and Matrix Ozik X con as the standard shafts and these are seriously high end installs

We will have a full test report and pictures up on the GM website at the end of the month

And, good news for all gear nuts is that this is just one of a number of big launches coming soon

we have already seen the new PING range - very nice indeed, and in the next few weeks will be getting the same from Mizuno Callaway Cleveland and Nike

watch this space as they say

Mike thanks for the reply, I am strongly looking forward to reading the report and am waiting in even greater anticipation now you have confirmed they are an improvement on the current range. As for the two shafts I have heard a lot about them and I really am impressed that these will be the standard for the new range. Do you have any idea of the RRP at this time? Do I need to start saving already?!

Damn Titleist and Damn GM, I hope your reviews says something along the lines of

''These new models are equally as good as callaways FT-5 so save your money, and a bust up with the mrs''

However I doubt they will do so I will be very tempted at gripping titleists new gear.

Being a Callaway fan(check the signature out) I was somewhat disapointed that the 3 wood that best fit me was of a different suit. BUT after sticking with my titleist 3 wood I have been really impressed with the results and beleive me, I hit it almost as far as my driver now.

I am in love with my FT-5 but I just know as soon as the titleist's land in the demo bin, I will be itching like ants nest!

Do titleist do Tour heads like callaway do, going up in half degree's? I use a tour head and they are dearer.

Infact does every manufacturer do this?

we haven't had the RRP confirmed yet - there are a lot of issues with pricing given the strength of the pound vs the dollar and weakness vs the euro - but I would have thought given the current driver market 300-350 would be about what we can expect

I'd have thought lofts will be the usual of around 8 thru 11 and Titleist have to my memory always done .5 degree options

The shafts are indeed expensive ones but buying them in the quantities Titleist are (we were told they took the entire first UK mass shipment of the Voodoos) means they wont be passing on the full price

That sounds really good regarding the shafts. However I think I will be glad if they come out at the £350 mark, I will be less tempted to trade in. Somewhere around the £200-£250 would have me thinking of excuses!

Never really liked Titleist drivers as they have never really sat great to my eye. I know they produce quality kit and that it is just a visual thing but as confidence plays such a key with driving I've never really looked at them (apart from the odd swing at demo days) as a serious piece of kit to have. With these new shafts though that will change and I can't wait to get one out on the range. HID will need some persuading though!!!

I also have been looking at the new Titleists. For those interested there are some good photos on the sandtrap website.

Personally I think the shiny metal (chrome?) is a bit much on the drivers, fairways and rescues, and very un titleist. I am not convinced by the looks (from the sole, the top is fine), so will have to wait to see if the performance benefits are there above the stuff I currently own.
