Hi one and all,

As some of you may have seen on social media, Taylormade has just launched its new M2 range.

The M2 is not an M1 replacement/upgrade, but is a more forgiving range with a cheaper price point aimed at golfers who are less fussed with adjustability and on more of a budget.

Here's the low down on the whole family, including the driver, fairway wood, hybrid and two iron sets: http://www.golf-monthly.co.uk/videos/gear-video/taylormade-m2-range-revealed

i notice the irons lofts are even stronger!

We questioned this, and were told because the irons launched so much higher, stronger lofts were needed to keep the gaps even between clubs. The peak trajectories of the M2 long irons (which are higher vs other brands) would suggest its not just a distance thing, but always hard to not be suspicious!

Very much liking the M2 stuff. A simple man's M1! The irons are very strong, 4 iron in at 19*. I'd have my longest iron being stronger than my 3 Hybrid! Look good though.

They fit in that space for people like me who just aren't consistent enough to be able to dial in the adjustibility. I wouldn't be able to justify the cost of something like an M1 as I can't reliably find the middle, so my strike pattern would dilute the effect of the adjustments into homeopathic quantities. Not such a problem with the M2.

So basically 99% of amateur golfers? ;)

I've been having a look at new irons recently and trying to decide between the taylormade tour preferred mc and the rsi2 irons. If you compare the lofts of the mc irons and these new m2's there's a whole club difference. The m2 8 iron (33°) actually has a stronger loft than the mc 7 iron (34°)!

yeah i'm sure. ;)

notice the driver is 1/4" of an inch longer too.

However, I love my M1, its brilliant so i'm sure the M2 will perform for people.

From what I had already seen of this I am not a fan of the looks if I am honest

I do still have a good laugh when people complain about 'stronger' lofts - there is a lot more to it than just the loft of the club. If you took some of these GI/SGI irons and produced them in what people consider to be standard lofts they would launch ridiculously high and go nowhere because the COG is often a lot lower to assist in getting the ball airborne, hence why the loft is lowered to produce the optimum launch angle along with various other factors

When manufacturers release clubs with strong lofts and then claim big distance gains you can see why people would be sceptical.

Looks wise i think they are very similar to the burner 2.0 irons from a few years ago.

More forgiving and cheaper. And bearing in mind hardly anyone changes the set up of their driver anyway, just sounds better all round. :)

I love the look of the M1 but resisted trying it until now......

Might give this a wallop at some point before the season starts. Like the fairway woods, never liked the idea of the sliding track on a fairway wood for some reason.

Looks interesting..but have only some bits on social media. I havent hit any clubs in months, so keen to get out and try these.. need to find an excuse.

The clubs seem to make sense - even if the naming doesnt. You would think the M2 replaces the M1 - should have named it M-Burner or something.

Then again - Taylormade might have even named it M2 to whip up a bit of internet Hysteria. Free Marketing... Clever
