I've just had a thought, and I apologise if this has been discussed before many many times, but has the website ever thought of having a "journals" section?

The idea being that you start your own thread, and update it as and when you fancy? Thereby making it easier for people to update any other people who are interested, without it taking up space on the General forum?

That would probably be a better way to describe it! Slightly less formal than a blog though.

I just thought, using recent events, if Homer wanted to discuss his latest round, he could do so in there, and not get the comments from people who don't want to read it! (Not getting involved in that thread, just using it as an example!)

You want everyone to basically have their own thread that they update when a bad/good round happens or they buy a new bit of kit?

Whats wrong with just posting a thread  cant imagine golf monthly would use up the space doing that for nowt. There is always the option of starting a blog ;)

Hahah, clearly just me then!! Just had a thought, as an old fitness one i used to visit had the same idea and it worked really well.

I would have argued it takes up less space for member X to have one "blog" on the site, than starting a new thread each time, and getting minimal replies.

As regards starting a blog, well yes that is an option but I would have thought that is both a bit more serious than an off the cuff thread, and also takes visits away from the site, which is what I thought the idea of a forum was (as in more visitors, more advertising etc)

Don't worry, it's clearly just my idea, I'm not offended that it's not popular :)

Alternatively forumers could stop posting new threads about every single round they play. They could even search out their previous thread on the topic and just add to it.

+1 for this!

Sometimes I just can't believe how many pointless threads there are on here

There could be some mileage in the OP if it was done the right way.

Its a forum! Essentially all the threads are pointless but hey ho it gives some folk some entertainment and is quite a good resource. You always have the option of not reading threads you know.........

So what you're suggesting, is that they update a single thread, rather than posting a new one.....

That sounds exactly like my idea good sir! The only difference is that there is a sub section of the forum for these, if anything just to make it easier to locate (and also, for the likes of the commenters talking about how boring/dull this would be, they could ignore, and never have to see such "pointless" threads.)

Absolutely 100% true.

But you can't deny that there are some pretty pointless threads on here.

Is it possible to delete any thread that isn't either interesting, informative, thought provoking or funny?..........please........???

;)
