New BBC Presenter For The Masters

Insulting towards ladies? Really? Don't you think it's insulting to male presenters not to be even considered to present MALE sports?

Sorry but when did golf become a "male sport" ? It's a sport for all ages , sex and ability

Attitudes like yours are what give the sport a bad name , sexist bigots stuck in the dinosaur age. This weekend we had a great turn out for a "Golf Girls Rocks" event where over 20 young girls aged from 8 through to 16 turned up - I worry that someone like you is in a position of any authority within a golf club , thankfully people of your ilk are starting to be phased out of the game and then we can look to the future of a sport embracing all

Pretty much agree with everything you have said here, no place for that kind of thinking today! There shouldn't have ever been a place for it either it was just accepted. I'd like to think the majority of us have moved on!

Eilidh Barbour is a golfer (not professional) and has been campaigning for some time to get more women to play golf. She is also an experienced broadcaster so seems like a perfect choice to me.

I don't watch BBC coverage and the fact a woman presents it is not going to make me switch to it
Why because i don't feel comfortable with women presenting would prefer a male.

Same as when i see the wife watching that E channel on sky sometimes they have a guy and girl on a sofa telling you about how Kim Kardashian got her hair done. For me it's just not right a male doing that.

But am old fashion i guess

Dan does not work on Sundays due to his Christian Beliefs

He gave a talk at my sisters church a few years ago. Apparently a lovely bloke, proper family man. He is old school Christian but doesn't ram it down people's throats.

Incidentally, no great prize to get that job, barely any golf to present. You can't hear a living presenting golf on the BBC.

What are you talking about? Which presenters "have not been considered"? Does it cross your mind that the BBC might have considered both male and female presenters and gone for the best person for the job, regardless of their gender? I'm pretty sure that 99.9% of the viewers don't give a damn whether the presenter has tackle or tits as long as he or she can do the job. There are still some people stuck in the dark ages but you can't make policy decisions based on extremist points of view.

I wasn't aware that the BBC covered golf any more. My favourite presenter, apart from Jeff Stelling, is Eleanor Oldroyd, so I have no problem at all.

Cant deny that I have a slight problem with listening to England lady cricketers giving their expert views on men's International cricket, knowing that England Women would be relegated from a County Amateur Premier League, but I would happily listen to Laura Davies or Anneka Sorenstam giving an opinion on men's golf. And as for Mickey Wright.........

There are lots of words for it but old fashioned isn't it

Why don't you feel comfortable a lady presenting the golf ? I guess you didn't watch the Sky Coverage on Wed or Thursday or Friday when they had Sarah Stirk on ?

Given that women have competed in male PGA events in the past I think you are sadly misrepresenting the thinking of the rest of the golfing world around you calling it a MALE sport!

Golf is predominantly a male sport. How many lady members do you have at your place? I want to see blokes discussing how players have coped with the days play. It just doesn't sit well with me with women presenters on a male sport. Don't start me on football. Good grief!

What a sad and blinkered post. Do you really think the TV audience was totally male dominated last night? And to answer your absurd questions we have a reasonably large and very active female membership

Sad/blinkered? Why is it sad/blinkered to have an opinion? I haven't said golf is just for men, but The Masters is! It's just something I'm not comfortable with. Does Hazel actually play? I've not heard about her actually playing golf. I would like my presenter of sport to actually be involved in it. This shows commitment and playing knowledge. To walk out on presenting The Masters shows she has neither.
