Never been so unenthusiastic on a Golf Course.

to be fair the ladies were playing normal 4ball pace

just not the same as a 2 ball (us)

I have no problem with people playing as slow as they like AS LONG as they let faster groups through

Whether its a match or not is immaterial

And I say that where exactly...??
How many lines did you have to read between to come up with that?
What I said was, if you could be bothered to read it, was that I have played worse than I did today but enjoyed it more due to not having to stand around for more than an hour picking my rear-end waiting.......or do you find that entertaining?
Don't you play to enjoy the game as well as shoot a good score??

The front 9 was despatched in good time because we were able to get on with it - how does that become a "jolly jaunt"..?

i could be be bothered to read it but if you come off your high horse and look at what I said was and in a sarcastic way ( do I have to put a sarcastic emotion to emphasise it) was that your 'jolly jaunt' going round in your 1:30min front 9 by what you said was left a lot to be desired!!! But when you were stood around picking your rear end, and enduring a slooooooowwwww back 9, the golf was better for the pair of you. Could there be something in that, that you played better when the pace wasn't your 'normal' pace of play?

Tell me a player who enjoys the game playing crap golf?

I'm perfectly capable of playing like a complete buffoon and still enjoy it...
Ask Chris, Jezz and Steve - my PP's at H4H last year...
Played my worst round of the year - still enjoyed it...

And you want me to slow down as well....?
Believe me, we don't run round........

Fairly obvious you are ultra serious about you're golf. I had 2 of the best golfing days of my life at Castle Stuart and Dornoch last weekend. Played rubbish but cracking weather, top drawer courses and good company meant I enjoyed it. Not everyone is as serious as you....

Imurg, could you not have gone as a 3 or 4 ball in the medal? Unusual to play comps in 2 balls (at least where I am).

Enjoyment on a golf course comes from more than just scoring well i believe - company is more important for me - as is the course and banter etc . Fulyl understand exactly your reasons for losing the will to play when stuck playing slow golf

Played rubbish the other week in a club match - but the banter and company was great and enjoyed my day

Golf is more than just scoring and playing well

It was a roll-up as Steve says. CVG was going to be playing but had to work - we got through a 4 ball of Seniors on the 6th with little drama.....

Put it down as one of those days , enjoy the pint , have another and move on to your next round of golf ...................EYG

Thought I'd scored a reasonable deal at a local club to try out the adjustments (lead weights) to my irons.

Rang up and they 'weren't busy' but got to the course 15 mins later and there was a significant queue fir the first tee. Checked and headed for the 10th and joined up with 2 members who had the same idea. Waited for 2 guys coming down the 9th who ominously said the 9 holes was enough for them. The 4-ball in front still hadn't got out of range and that was the story for the entire back 9. they refused to even acknowledge our existence! 2 hrs 20 for that and we skipped around the front in 1 hr 40 - playing much better!

I've never been so angry on a golf course and can feel an irate email to the owner!

where on earth did I say I want you to slow down! You said that when you were being held up, the back 9 was better then the front 9!
was it the fact that the slower pace made you concentrate better, more decisive in your thinking, more methodical in your approach, or the fact that it took you 9 holes to get going before the better golf kicked in?

If I misinterpreted your comment about I've played a lot worse but enjoyed the round, then I apologise to you.

We all can read the posts and each take it to mean something else!

Had the group in front lost ground on the group in front of them? Must admit that if I'm waiting to play every shot I'm not letting anyone through even if they are a smaller group.... Unless we need to search for a ball.....

Sorry Chrisd I don't know Adam from Eve on here. But I'll take your word for it.

If it's a smaller group, I will always let them through and hope the group in front do so as well. It's also a great way to get a message to the group in front that you are being held up and would like some remedy too.

I got caught behind the final of a ladies pairs matchplay at Hoebridge last year. 3 1/2 hours into the round we were waiting on the 13th tee, after catching up with the ladies up ahead on the 10th or 11th. There was a good 10 minute wait on each shot.

I called the clubhouse, as we could clearly see there was no-one ahead of them, and they were not letting us through. On the 14th tee, there was a queue of 2 groups on the tee and one group putting on the 13th green.

The marshall came out to us and told us that the rules say finals do not allow groups to play through, and that we should just suck it up. I was so angry, especially when I asked for proof and he said "that's just the rules".

I think education of the rules can be to blame here - and not always from the slow group!!!

i don't think i'd expect to be let through a club team match of any description, especially not a ladies match. i know its not the stated rules, but generally an unwritten rule i think most people would abide.

i would have just been thankful that i hadn't caught them on the 5th, in which case i would have scratched the comp and tried to wheedle my money back out of the pro.
