Never been so unenthusiastic on a Golf Course.

I had a nice 9 holes in the sun whilst Brazil v Mexico was on the other night. Lost 3 balls and 3 sevens in 9 holes. THAT makes me more unenthusiastic on a golf course than having to wait. Agree that you should have been let through however. I don't know how anyone can fully conentrate on their game and relax whilst 2 people are standing staring at you with their hands on their hips physcially willing you to hurry up!!

Played a four ball on Monday night and teed of at 5:30. We were stuck behind a 3 ball and 4 ball who all new each other.

The 4 ball waited till the 3 ball walked off the green before playing their next shots - fair enough thought i. By the time we'd teed off on the 2nd, it had taken 20 minutes to play the 1st. By the time we'd walked up to our balls on the 2nd fairway, the 3 ball we're talking their 2nd shots on the 3rd!!!

All in all, it took us 2 1/2 hours to play 9 and half our group had to leave to get home in good time. Me and another lad played on and decided (after laying up on the par 5 10th to just pick the balls up and go to the 11th tee (after asking if it was ok with the sluggards).

Back 9 took 2 hours. Didn't get home till 10pm.

To make matters worse, we're sure that the eldest fella on the 4 ball was coaching the other 3. Here's your first coaching tip - if you are going too slow, let people through dammit!

Flippin 'eck. Don't tell Homer .......

Nope... lost me there.

Some groups of all ages are better at letting others through than others. Some seniors at our place are excellent. Others wouldn't let you through with their dying breath. Same with the ladies, and other younger members (i.e. not seniors).

NGT will help to a degree and there are tips for dealing with it but it does become hard. Tough to keep a rhythm going and to keep interest but nothing much you can do. I wouldn't have expected a ladies match (or any other) to have moved over to be honest.

This is where New Golf Thinking starts to kick in

First 9, out in 51, 3rd shot on our 4th SI 1 165 yards from the pin, duck hooks it into the woods ended with an 8, if playing Stableford would have had 12 points. the odd bad shot got me into trouble

However on the back 9 , I knew we were going to be held up with no chance of being let through, so being mentally stronger than my little Bro  I was able to switch off and compartmentalize the situation and as a result shot 42 on the back (same as Imurg) which would have been 21 or 22 points and included 5 pars.

Looks like im going to end up 1 shot outside buffer unless CSS moves in my favour, so probably a .1 BUT if at the end of the front 9 you told me i'd end up being so close to buffer, i'd have laughed at you. Just need to get it working for an entire round now.

Having said that it was irritating literally having to wait 10 minutes on every tee from the 11th as they had to all finish their 3rd shots before they were out of range, and if we had known there was a match on, we probably wouldnt have entered the medal and may have just played the first 9 twice.

Your body starts to cool, old limbs get a bit stiff and still you are waiting and then your PP starts to lose it :)

and she duffs it another 30 yards

At one point the Ladies in front were described as "The Dementors of the Golf World" as they sucked the enjoyment out of the round, but we thought we shouldnt mention it as fairway Dodger would be on our case.....so we wont :)

Oh I won BTW :)

Got the result today, CSS moved from 69 to 71 so ended up coming third, in buffer and only 3 off the winner :)
