Played my third full round earlier after returning to the game after a several year lay off (wife, kids etc etc...).
Anyway aim was to break 100, not a big deal to many admitedly but its a milestone for me. Shot 100 exactly, so close yet so far! But for a couple of daft 3 putts and a ridiculous 10 on the par 5 third it would have been closer to 90.
Oh well, next time!

Stick with it but don't go chasig it.The more you try, the tenser and quicker you swing. Do the simple things right an try not to add up as you go and hopefully you'll be back after the next round celebrating

Cheers. Been playing at New Forest. Not a member yet but think I will join pretty soon.
I actually went out with a different game plan today, just to back off a bit and try and stay out of trouble. Instead of taking on that long 6 iron into the green, just lay up with an 8 and try and get up and down. It seemed to work once I got going and I a couple of times the lay up shot ended up on the green. I'm really pleased with how I played on the better holes, if I can find a way to stop a few of the silly mistakes I think I can get some good scores in.

Can understand a touch disappointing but nearly there and a decent score all things considered, keep trying and it will come, you'll soon be looking to break 90 not 100. :)

So true. I had an absolute disaster at the weekend, couldn't hit anything and I think went round in about double the par 71 of the course and was actually doubting whether I made the right decision to switch to playing golf.

Tonight I went out for 9 holes and decided not to bother recording strokes. I needed practice and recording things on the card just keeps building pressure. Well, even though there were still a lot of bad shots I ended up enjoying myself so much I stayed out for an extra 5 holes (our 14th is by the clubhouse). Got some on-course chipping practice, played two balls for a lot of it and just had fun whilst learning about my swing.

It's so true that if you can play relaxed you play better. My dad used to say the best way to hit a golf ball a long way is not to try to hit it a long way. I guess the same goes for breaking 100. Don't try to break it, just enjoy yourself and you'll probably find you do it without realising.
