This is my first drive from the charity day on friday, any views on the set up? I usually stick my bum out a bit more meaning a straighter back, it miles away from when i used to really slouch.

I'll be posting other pictures from the day later.

i think if you go to a coach he'll tell you loads is wrong with it, I would ask how the ball fly's from the swing you create. I've recently given up trying to listen to what people are saying at just stand up there and hit it. The only this I've taken on board is not trying to knock the spots off it. My drive is much more consitant and even longer knwo I have slowed everythign down.
I'd only be bothered how you stance is if you're not hitting the ball well.

All looks fine to me and well balanced. Perhaps the feet look too close together, if you're going to give it some welly you need a stable platform.
Think you should see half the ball above the clubhead when grounded so maybe tee it up a bit more? Also not sure if the ball is far enough forward in stance, doesn't look off the left heel to me but maybe you were shaping up for a low draw? ;)

Birdieman, I tee the ball low as I get the ball quite high anyway. Thanks for the rest of the advice. I do usually have the ball at my left heel with the driver but it doesnt seem that far forward in this picture.... maybe a bit of first tee nerves with all the onlookers contributed to an incomplete set up. My allignment has been terrible but i'm pleased that it looks pretty decent in this picture.

Minty, where were you aiming to hit the ball in that picture? Do you have a point in the pic that you can give us as a reference point? Might help us distinguish if you alignment is OK (although it's hard to see from the photo at that angle).

He's aiming to draw it 28yds up and around those 2 trees directly over his back, .....arent' you minty ? ;)

If only i could draw the ball. This shot actually went straight down the middle of the fairway with a tiny bit of fade. :) my bad drives are still going about 180yds so it cant be a major slice but they are going off the right of the fairway.

My Bad.....I didnt mean 28yds,.......meant 280yds :D

Looks good to me Minty, and you're not the only one with a slight fade on his drive's, even happens to me who draw's his irons !

Go figure.:D

I'm blaming this pesky new 909.

Its controlable which is the main thing. I always aim down the middle of the fairway, at worst it'll be right side of the fairway, maybe just in the second cut. Dont get me wrong I still have one every now and again that goes horribly wrong but the majority find the fairway.

I've come along way from last summer when i was aiming miles left to find the fairway with a huge slice. I would literally be aiming between the two tree's on the left to find the fairway. So glad them days are over.

Yep, aim and alignment looks good. I'm also like you, and fight a slice (normally if I really go after one) but can hit it fairly straight, or with controlled fade, if I swing nice and easy.

I've also noticed that if I switch to a stiff shaft, bizzarely, it cures my slice...

Why dont you just use a stiff shaft all the time then?

I have a regular flex because I dont have a very quick swing speed. I also slice when I try and melt the ball.

I'm getting there, I'm getting there. ;)

When I bought the G5 I wasn't fitted, and was advised that a regular shaft would do me. I've tested a couple of drivers with stiff shafts in the last couple of weeks (G10 and 909D2) and liked them. Now all I have to do is convince the missus!! :)

I don't think it looks too bad. Feet a little too close together - should be shoulder width (or a fraction wider) for a driver and the ball could do with coming up a tad but in genreal terms nice and solid.

The important thing is to play to your strengths so if the ball usually fades or draws play with it.
