Well, I think it's finally happened - my first handicap cut.
I've been threatening for a while and have played bang on to my handicap in three or four medals in very windy conditions. Even picking up a few quid in prize money for minor places, but never beaten my handicap with a card in my hand.
Today, calm-ish conditions and I shoot 84 for a nett 66 (par 69). It looks like the CSSS will be bang on 69 so by my reckoning (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that should be a 0.9 cut?
So that now makes me a 17 handicapper! Nothing outstanding but a first step in the right direction.
It was also the worst I could possibly have scored today with 40, count 'em, 40 putts. Yes, that's right. 40 f*****g putts. Putted like an absolute [insert expletive of your choice here]. That putting performance came out of nowhere too.
Still, it shows there's potential to come down further and, hopefully, quickly.
