Well, I think it's finally happened - my first handicap cut.

I've been threatening for a while and have played bang on to my handicap in three or four medals in very windy conditions. Even picking up a few quid in prize money for minor places, but never beaten my handicap with a card in my hand.

Today, calm-ish conditions and I shoot 84 for a nett 66 (par 69). It looks like the CSSS will be bang on 69 so by my reckoning (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong) that should be a 0.9 cut?

So that now makes me a 17 handicapper! Nothing outstanding but a first step in the right direction.

It was also the worst I could possibly have scored today with 40, count 'em, 40 putts. Yes, that's right. 40 f*****g putts. Putted like an absolute [insert expletive of your choice here]. That putting performance came out of nowhere too.

Still, it shows there's potential to come down further and, hopefully, quickly.

well done mate, good shooting, you may get an extra point too for the Cat thing but not sure.

40 Putts......... ouch !! Otherwise, well done !

The only bright side to that is that at least I didn't come down 3 full shots in one go. I think I'd struggle to get near that for a while.

I will have nightmares about my putting tonight.

I know exactly why you had 40 putts today...

you have been calling your putter the wrong name and it doesn't like it!
it is Natalie and not Nathalie. problem sorted

That must have been it. She's put up with it for a while but obviously had enough today.
