TS 13* (as normal) 3 wood is 14.5*. And the R11S is 'naturally 15.5* - though adjustable.

On robot testing, anything up to 17 yards! I'm sure I could work it out. Calculation isn't too difficult. And add about the same for the change in loft an at optimum swing speed (the small print) the answer is probably nearly 17 yards. 'Speed Pocket', as per Adams's 'Velocity Groove' or whatever from last year, contributes too. The 'approaching the COR limit' statement is/was marketing bollox too - as that only applies to 'Driving Clubs'.

H'mm! More bollox I'm afraid!

Just because the word 'Tour' is used, doesn't mean it's a Tour club - or even aimed at the tour player! Though I suspect the Tour guys would only be using the smaller (Tour) version - as they tend to prefer compact FWs.

You should just admit that saying 'ALL...by ALL...' was wrong. You are probably correct re 'standard...most..is 15*' but I'm pretty certain that that wasn't the loft they used for their '17 yards' result.

BTW. The Cleveland Mashie 3 is 15.5 - though the FL is 15.

The only RBZ that are readily available as the standard 15* and the Tour 14.5* if you wish to believe all the others available on the shelves in all stores then by all means believe it.

If you want to pick holes in everything then great but it must have took you some time to find the Mashie to quote, how about all the 'strong' 3 woods that are sold at 14* ?

I wouldn't use AG to buy my clubs because I've had too many bad experiences in a number of different shops that persuaded me that the majority of their staff don't know their product range and are only interested in pushing profit leaders. Even my so called "custom fit" there was a mess. +3 degrees when I'm only six foot and had already been measured elsewhere for standard loft and lie. I think not.

On the subject of the OP's question I'm another who wouldn't rule other makes and models out as a beginner and think you'll be able to find cheaper and models (burners already mentioned) that are equally good for your current standard. As for the bag set up, I go for the traditional of 3 woods (driver, 3&5) a 3 hybrid instead of a 3 iron, 4-PW and a gap wedge and a 58 degree sand wedge plus putter

Some good advice here.

Re the make up of your bag, i would invest in a good 3 wood and hybrid before you buy a driver. But that's just me!

I would second that opinion....3 wood you can use off the tee and in the fairway!

I'm in the south-east of England, new Lewes/Crowborough and within easy reach of Brighton and Tunbridge Wells if you had any recommendations? I live close to the East Sussex National course which has a pro-shop, but from what I hear they're very overpriced.
